Creative Beasts Saichania

#1 Post by kevtk135 »

I haven't built a dinosaur in quite a while, and since this one has been on the Pile, I decided it was time to do Creative Beast's Saichania.
The kit is in 6 parts of white resin. There are some flash here and there and one or two pinholes - none of them being in any place of importance.

I wanted to keep this model simple so I chose only a few colors - a "burnt flesh" from V's Flesh set, a brown for the top part and a blue gray for the scutes and spikes.
To finish it off I drybrushed a lighter gray on the scutes and spikes, some Agrax in the darker areas, and some Sepia on the lighter parts. Thanks for looking .

One thing that can be said about Kev, he doesn't limit himself to any particular genre! That's one creepy looking dino. Another good paint job.

Thanks guys!

Carl: Yep, I'm all over the place. Whatever kit catches my eye, gets built. ;)

Nice work.
Sometimes simpler is better, and in this case I think it really works.

I miss seeing them at WF I finally had some cash to grab some of their stuff, and they weren't there that year :( .

Thanks!

I haven't talked to David in quite a while so I can't say for sure, but following him on FB, he has been busy with his accurate raptor toy line, and preparing for a ceratopsian line

I have a bunch more dinos in my "Pile", but the pile has gotten so big over the years... they're in there somewhere.

Great job Kev ... I had that Saichania, but never got around to building it up before I sold it 5 years ago ... its hard to believe the thing could have that much armor and still be mobile!!!

Agreed. I was especially shocked at the front legs, which seemed jam packed with the scutes. They were amazing animals. :)

That is an awesome job! :D I wish I had been able to finish mine before the layoff turned everything upside down. It's assembled, most of the seam work done... and still packed away in a box. :(

Thank you. Sorry to hear your news.
I hear ya. I got caught up in the lung diseases thing from 9/11, and a lot of my kits are from that era. But the one good thing about scale modeling is once you have it kit, it's always there ready for when you are. :)
