How to Paint Plaid

#1 Post by Pun13 »

Some great tips from Jim (JJCap1) on how to paint Plaid

Thanks Jim

Tom

I had to get out the magazine and look up how I did it! As has been stated already, a steady hand helps.
1) Paint base color.
2) Paint evenly spaced horizontal and vertical LIGHTER stripes.
3) Paint small LIGHTER squares where stripes overlap.
4) Paint pinstripes between the first stripes. I did red first skipping a stripe, then put white over that. I used watercolors here.

Hope this makes sense. By the way, having a small flat surface to work on helped.

From Jim...

Here's the same approach on my invisible Man. The same first 3 steps as above: white base, gray stripes, black squares. No pinstripes... too small.

Seems to be an old thread. Can you replace the pics?
