Swan-Knight of Dol-Amroth (Lord of the Rings)
Up for viewing is Pegaso Models’ 200mm Templar Knight that I have adapted to depict a Swan-Knight of Dol Amroth from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, again, like all my LotR conversions this character is from the book and not the film where rather disappointingly, these noble knights were omitted.
The scene if you can call it that is supposed to be where the Captains of the West advance on Mordor to draw Sauron’s eye from the Ringbearer hence the knight is still looking a bit soiled and post-battle weary having just fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
Here the host have stopped for a break in the ruins of Osgiliath and the knight is taking a well-earned break (obviously I am assuming some knowledge of both book and film).
The kit is built straight from the box with the only modification being the addition of the ‘swan’ wings to his helmet. These wings were originally provided with another Pegaso kit of a Viking warrior (an excellent version of which has been posted in this thread in the past). The kit is resin with white metal straps, rope tassels.
The base is a turned wooden base from UK base maker, Just Bases. I added some extra groundwork and applied static grass using a Noch applicator (which actually makes the bl**dy stuff stand upright!).
To finish off the groundwork I sprinkled some dried leaves from Tremendous-Scenics, a great product I was put on to by UK CH member Geoff (where is he) Martin.
Figure was painted in acrylics and was originally to have been a Citadel Guard, but to get it true(er) to the book would have involved some conversion which I didn’t feel happy to attempt.
p.s. I did cheat with the Dol-Amroth emblem on the pennant, as much as I would have loved to have hand painted this I was getting bored and didn’t feel my painting skills would have achieved the effect I was after so I downloaded an image and printed it off (twice), cut the images out and glued them on!

Looks excellent. All the combinations of blues and the subtle weathering, great paint!
