2023-03-28, new pics page 1; started reworking and thinning out the wings of Ymir bash

Reworking the wings on my Tony Mcvey Ymir bash.
The wings are from a Draco dragon heart model.
The wings are a little too thick for the Ymir.
Reshaping, slimming, and thinning wings down, and removing the numerous large ridges in the wings webbing.

Sad part is that I really liked the paint job on this bash, but now I will have to repaint the whole kit again.

Agree with trimming the wing claws off and changing the angle - now it looks more like Ray's Homunculus from Golden Voyage, a Harpy or a Daemon - but then, that's your forte, isn't it? :D

Thanks !
Even after cutting and grinding down wing webbing ridges, wings were still too thick.
Since these are vinyl wings, there is hollow space between top and bottom half.
So I cut out bottom half of wing and will fill back in with much thinner layer of putty.
Also made outer edge of wing mid segment curve inward instead of outward.

I suddenly have a strong desire for a pint of "lager & lime" - no idea what could have caused that :-k

Coming along nicely my friend! - thanks (as always) for the WIP updates :thumb2:

Thanks guys !
I was going to go with the original dark paint scheme, but I found a couple pics of Mcvey Ymirs painted in more colorful schemes, so gonna try that out ….

Now that there is some color on it, I can see where you are going with it.
I like it. That profile shot really looks great. Love the proportions on everything.

Thanks Trevor !

I think the now much thinner and reshaped wings really improved the proportions.

I am trying to come up with a base design that will have both my unmodified and bashed Ymirs displayed together.

I have two of the cellar cast alien landscape bases (same one I used for my lizard folk predator bash)
that I am considering on combing (somehow?) for the Ymirs.

As always, suggestions are welcome !

Started working base to display both Ymir’s together.

Using Steve West alien base and original base from Tony Mcvey Ymir.

I want the winged Ymir to be higher up than the non-winged version.

Trying for a bit of a Roger Dean (YES album cover artist) style ….

Feedback on this base approach would be welcome as always

That will make for a fantastic display! What kind of putty is that on the "cave columns"?

Wow!
I would have never even considered that kind of option for the bases.

I like it.

I am very glad that you guys like this base design.
I beefed up the columns a bit, and made the top a bit wider and longer.

Continuing to work the base.
Removed original craters to make space for brown Ymir, and sculpted new craters and added other features.
Working on dry brushing and adding lava; then have to black out and dry brush new rock features.
Still have lots of painting work to do on green Ymir.
