B&W will give it a 1930s feel - could be just the thing to make it stand out.

Adding some red tones to the wing webbing
it is much more reddish than the brown as appears in the pics.
..1970s vibe versus 1930s..

Back to this thread after a leave of-absence.

I think I liked the grey/white version best.

You have the patience of Job, the determination of Thomas the Tank Engine, and the standards of Elon Musk.

You'll get there Joe! (and then, like a certain Hobbit - will probably go back again) :D

Hey Ian! Good to hear from you.
As always, I sincerely appreciate your very honest and helpful feedback!

Yeah, I almost just called it done with the black and white scheme, but it just seemed a bit boring to me.

I am working on the wings today. Trying to get a red-black mottled look working.
If I get the mottled look right on the wings, then I may also run a red mottled stripe down the back spine to add some more visual interest and tie the body to the wings.

Also thought about making all the spikes red instead of black, but that may make it look cartoonish or toyish?

And thanks to everyone who is watching this thread.
Appreciate all of you hanging in there through all my typical restarts!
Comments are welcome.

You're welcome - but you have a way to go to beat my record - My giant 20" massively kitbashed Paradise Godzille (see my thread in the "Stomping Grounds" forum) was completed in 2006 .... and is only just now getting his final paint job in 2022, thanks to Bill Jones who is doing it for me!! :drool2:

Well, finally, I am really digging this latest paint scheme .
Still have to dry brush to make details pop, and tone down underbelly with lights greys.
And detail the mouth and eyes.
Then Just have to do what my wife always tell me..stop F’n with it!

Yeah - that's cool - particularly love the light coloured underbelly for contrast.

Nice one!

Oooo!
I really like that contrast.
And lightening up allows for seeing more of the details underneath as well.

Decided to simplify the belly armor for a more streamlined look.
Cut off all the spikes, slimmed down the ridges and now working on the detailing.
Also considering painting the new under armor reddish black to balance out the red wings.
I will leave the under neck and under tail gray/white to keep some contrast.

I am still really liking that red-black-white color scheme on the underside.
It think it works really well.

I do think you are right about needing a bit of red under there though.
Not sure how much, but it does need something.

No worries Ian, lots of spikes left on this dragon !

Thanks Trevor !
one sure way to find out if the red black paint scheme on underbelly armor will work….
And as we know, I can always repaint it (again) if it doesn’t look right
