Camera Lens

Just wondering, when you are either photographing models at a show or your own models, what lens do you use? Meaning, 18, 50 200mm lens?

I just use my iPhone, and use the freebee viewer Irfanview to make any little corrections.

Tricky question. it depends how close you need/can get to the kit. I use an 18 -55mm zoom. The wider lenses will distort and longer lenses are slower and harder to use unless with a tripod or monopod.

For taking pictures of my work, I use a Canon fixed 100mm macro lens (it's a very fast lens ( 2.8 )), but I use f25 for great depth of field. I always use a tripod to make sure I can adjust/repeat shots.

If I was at a show where setting up a tripod would be complicated (or not possible), I'd go w/ a monopod and fall back to f9-f11 w/ my 100mm so that I didn't have to hold it steady for as long (provided I could still get the pictures I want). If it required me to be too far away, I'd follow go w/ a zoom in the range suggested by grymm above.

I usually use a monopole at the show. As for my IPhone, I did not know there was something called that. Maybe I should try renting some lens to get an idea of what will work? :-k

Filmy used to have a great tutorial on photographing models but I can't find it anywhere.
