getting scared

#1 Post by airman34 »

I'm scared that they are going to have to cancel WF for this year. What do you folks think?

I know it is not looking good.
October Chiller is canceled.
Everything else is canceled.
I think with the restrictions in place currently, even if it happened, they would have to severely limit the number of people in the dealers room.

I'd still lover to go, but my hopes that it is going to happen get smaller every day.

I agree - not looking promising the way things are going. Everything getting cancelled - I had 16 baseball games and 5 concerts cancelled this summer.
I hope it still goes on but I agree with Trevor - probably have to have limits in the rooms, social distancing and masks. If it happens it will surely be a different experience!

Yeah... just updating my show page today I had 3 new ones cancelled:
AMPS Intl Con, Monster Mania Con & Southern Cal Gundam Model Competition.

My show page is pretty dismal this year! :)

If I can humbly speak... I am in Italy, so for me there is NEVER a WF... you are so lucky there, even if for an year you have to sit down and munch the bone... anyway, why don't you make a petition to make TWO shows next year, when hopefully the big bastard virus will be history???

Stefano,

There are several big kit shows. In different regions with completely different customer bases. All in jeopardy of failing with one bad attendance. I won't be able to make wonderfest regardless as they moved it to October which is always out for me.

Still isn't close to the same. If you haven't experienced Wonderfest in person it's kind of hard to explain.

The biggest problem (as I see it) is the fact that most states are enforcing a 2 week quarantine before allowing travelers to mingle with locals. Granted, I don't know how or if those quarantines are tracked or even enforced, and I can't speak for anyone else, but spending the funds to stay in a hotel room for 2 plus weeks, would make attending any show a losing proposition, especially if attendance is low because of safety restrictions.

At this point, I'm pretty much writing off the rest of 2020 as a loss for any show ... I just can't see it happening.

I didn't even think about the quarantine part of it - that's very possible. They are shutting things back down around where I live(St. Louis area) again this week. Said it would probably be in effect for 4 more weeks unless it gets better or worse.

I've pretty much written off the rest of this year too.

I'm worried about cancelation and I'm worried about going if not. I do know I seem to be suffering from WF withdraw. LOL
