Because I am not a car guy. Haven't built a car kit since I was kid, and then I barely ever painted them at all.
So, I figure I am going to need at least one to practice on.

I also hope to open the trunk, and that may end in disaster, who knows.
I'd actually like to get at least a couple more to have for insurance in case I really screw up

You probably already know, but there's an article about opening the trunk on this kit in the December 2020 Fine Scale Modeler. Hope it helps.

In addition to some other things, I found a Lissa Monroe vampire kit by Lunar Models, sculpted by Jim Fawkes. I already have the companion kit, where Lissa is standing over the body of a woman; this one is just a standard "arms raised menacingly" pose. But the facial sculpt is just great. It's packed in newspaper; the date on the paper is 1994.
