#1 Post by GUITARWORX »

Many nights reading his books and smirking to myself on his wry sense of humor and his take on things.
him and Piers Anthony were my favorites in my teens

RIP

I just heard about this.

Terrible news! I think there were 4 Discworld books in publication when I read the first one. I loved it and I've read everyone since. He'll be greatly missed.

RIP Terry!

Very sad! Have every book and snatch the newest the second it
comes out. Will be interesting to see if his daughter continues the
Discworld series.

But man...far too young! :(

RIP Terry!
I remember in the early years, you had to know someone overseas inorder
to get a copy because they weren't sold over here!

My Brit pals would hold them hostage until I sent them over '...those instant
popcorn baggy things' as they would say. (they had never seen it before and
I had hooked um on it when we lived over there!) :)

Although I never met the man, through his books - including his recent non-fiction writings - I felt he was a friend. Will be much missed in my world

I only became aware of his writing after he was published in the U.S., so it was easier for me to build my Pratchett library. I'm only missing one or two of the most recent non-discworld books. I've also enjoyed the film adaptations of his books, and I would love for the BBC to do more of them.

Anybody have a favorite Discworld book? It's a hard thing to pick, but I think mine is Lords and Ladies.

I think my favorite line in the Discworld books was about a bacon surprise sandwich.

"what's so surprising about a bacon sandwich?"

"It must have been a shock to the pig."

yeah, difficult one... I think Equal Rites because that was the first time Granny Weatherwax appeared.

And Reaper Man - with a very appropriate quote "No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away...” - TP's ripples will go on for some time I think
