Always wanted to read that. Absolutely loved the movie, one of my favorites.

For the movie they changed the title to "The Ninth Configuration". Don't know why. I think the book title has more impact.

Working on my second attempt at the Song of Ice and Fire books. First attempt was a year or two before the show started and part of the way through book 2 I just decided I don't care. I like the show so now that I know it is all going somewhere, I'm giving it another shot. On book 2 rapidly approaching the spot where I previously gave up.

Over the weekend I finished Hungry Gods. A superhero/zombie apocalypse book. Nothing really to recommend but if you're a fan of the genre, nothing to reject either.

got to about chapter 5 in Dan Brown's "Lost Symbol" before realizing that I've
read it before! Sheesh!

Trying Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Never read anything of his, although
grew up hearing he was the cat's meow! 1/2 thru it right now... not seeing what
all the hoopla was about, actually!

Watching "The Expanse" inspired me to start reading the novels. I just started reading the first one, "Leviathan Wakes". It's OK. It's helpful to explain certain details in the TV series, that aren't clear just from the visuals, or from the dialog.

any Steven Brust 'Vlad the assassin' fans out here?

"Vallista" just came out.

Personally, found it boring as hell, which was disappointing since I really loved
this series. But of course, YMMV.

Just discovered the joys of painting kits to an audiobook. Why did I not try it before?
Two of my favourite pastimes simultaneously.

I listened to the new Stephen King "Sleeping Beauties" - okay, not his best.
Currently listening to Clare North "The Sudden Appearance of Hope". She is a really original SF writer - third book by her I've read - who dreams up really intriguing ideas.
Also reading Gabriel Tallent "My Absolute Darling"

I read pretty much anything by John Sanford. Just finished John Ringo's The Last Centurion. An excellent apocalyptic story line but no zombies.

Just finished "Monsters we're British you know": A Celebration of Peter Cushing from the folks in the UK that do We Belong Dead. It's a collection of various writings on Cushing's career, life and his enduring effect on film history. Very enjoyable read and made being sick last week much more bearable!
