How is that? I started reading Blender for dummies. Couldn’t get through it, way too much info.

Learning quite a lot, actually. I'm considering investing in equipment and software for high def printing. Now....to take out a second mortgage and clear out a spare bedroom for the machine. lol

Just finished rereading Clive Barkers Books Of Blood volume 1,2 and 3. Had not read them since they where originally released. Really held up well. Also finished a great collection of novels by Ross MacDonald.

1/2 thru Don't Panic: Douglas Adams & The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
by Neil Gaiman

Had read Wish You Were Here: The Official Biography of Douglas Adams
by Nick Webb about 7 months ago and wasn't going to get Neil's at first.

Then it was offered for 1.99 and decided to snatch it up. Glad I did! Although
Nick's book goes into more details on his overall life... Neil's is more of an insiders
look mainly at the HHGTTG work but his writing style is just so dang easy to read
and it's been a pleasure to keep turning the pages!

I'd recommend getting both and reading Nick's then Neil's!!

Finished Dresden Files #16: Peace Talks. Explained why #17 presale came out so
soon... they're actually one book split in half.

But it was good revisiting Dresden's world... been awhile.

Jeez, I've barely read anything this year. Recently finished

Semiosis by Sue Burke
A fun and creative scifi read, I thought it would go into semiotics a little more. The species in the book attempting to communicate were some of the most interesting parts.

Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin
Really short, compelling read that's a mix of supernatural and more earthly horror.

In the middle of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon

1/2 way thru Steven Brust's 'The Baron of Magister Valley'. The
lastest Paarfi 'Dragaera' novel.

If reading Dumas bothers you, might want to skip these. :)

Read The Living Dead by George A. Romero and Daniel Kraus. I was excited to read it, I couldn't put it down, and I didn't like it.
It was more involved in the "human" element of things with a lot of focus on the different characters. Way to many outrageous coincidences and I didn't find any of the characters likable or capable of making good decisions.
There were a few other things but I don't feel that I, as a Caucasian should really comment on, but one scene I felt reversed everything good about what the NOTLD Ben character stood for.
I'm probably just getting more grumpy in my old age but I think other people here will probably enjoy it.

Just learned...

for fans of The Legacy of Heorot by Niven, Pournelle, Barnes... and the
subsequent sequel, just learned a 3rd book has been published!

Finished it last night and was great to revisit that word. (Nothing cooler
than Grendels!!) :)

Forgot about this! Thanks for the reminder. Checked it out from my library. Not far in but the writing already strikes me as weak. I'm a Romero zombie nut, though, so I'll stick with it.

Wow, Tim, I may have been wrong about sticking with it. The Living Dead is a DRAG. So poorly written, unlikable characters, just bad. Maybe it'll get better but right now I can barely summon up the interest to continue reading.

Addition, 10 minutes later: I went to Amazon to check out the reviews and confirmed that my problems with the book aren't going away. So fine, I quit.

I hear ya Todd. I had to keep reading just so I'd have something to complain about. I kept waiting for it to pick up and before I knew it I was done.
How far did you get?

About 10 percent. I disliked it from the get-go.

No idea why I picked it up, but is quite interesting to see how the
different nationalities moved and changed the island!
