20" Godzilla 1962 Kitbash/MONSTER JONES EXPLODING Paint up!
Backstory: In 2006 I seriously 'bashed this 20" Tall Paradise King Goji - Opened up the pose, re-sculpted the head front of the eyes, straightened the tail by cutting each section on one side, connecting with wires, puttying, finally putting plaster in the legs so he could stand. One of my most involved customs.
The trouble was - I had (charitably) limited painting skills at the time. So I painted him green (see the first photo, which also shows you the original kit in the B&W insert pic just to give you an idea of the complexity of the bash).
In 2014 I tired of seeing this green abomination and spray painted him in a gray primer. And so he sat for 7 more years.
Fast forward to 2021. After moving to Texas 2 months ago, we had the pleasure of having Bill "Monster" Jones and his lovely wife Kathy come to visit us. A great time was had by all - and Bill left with my two largest unpainted pieces and a commission to (finally!) finish them for me!
Well, Bill just sent me the first photo of the finished paint up (second photo below). I am floored. Finally I SEE it as I imagined it would look when I bashed it!!! I could not resist starting this thread because I am so over-the-moon. Once Bill finishes the second commission piece I gave him, we'll travel up to Austin and pick them up.
Til then, consider this photo a teaser of things to come. Thanks again Bill for helping me realize my original vision for this piece!!!

Re: 20" Godzilla 1962 Kitbash/MONSTER JONES EXPLODING Paint
In keeping with the "tweaking" spirit exemplified by our own "Barad-dur" , yesterday I asked Bill to "tweak" this paint job by giving the fins a blueish glow to match the atomic breath. Stay tuned for updated pics ...

Hah, yeah, but my “tweaking” is usually a total repaint !
Cool Zilla bash - I think it’s a good call on tweaking the fin colors

I think the blue does make it better.
Enjoy it when it gets home.

Re: 20" Godzilla 1962 Kitbash/MONSTER JONES EXPLODING Paint
*FINALLY* Here are some more photos of this gorgeous Kingoji paint up by Bill Jones. There are also a few combination photos showing the difference in my 'bash from the original kit, as well as comparison of my head re-sculpt to the photo from the movie that I tried to follow. Finally, photos of the "atomic beam" set up that Bill gave me as a very, very, unexpected and cool gift!
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
