Monster Jones and Me at the Alamo Squadron IPMS ModelFiesta!

#1 Post by bucketfoot-al »

Bill Jones met me down at the annual Alamo Squadron ModelFiesta41, held in the City of New Braunfels ... Bill and I just hung out and chatted for the entire day as he sold off some loose items at his vendor's table ... but wait - there's a lot more! Check the commentary below the photos ....

The model display room - see the Spinosaurus? That was mine and Bill's joint entry .... I 'bashed it and he painted it ... more later downthread ...

Bill and I shootin' the modeling breeze at his vendor's station at the event ...

And here is Kong, my latest build y'all know and love  ... unfortunately there was no "sci fi figure" category ... so in he went with "Civilian Dioramas" ....

Image

Looking good ... (Kong too!! :rolf: )

Image

This truly INSANE giant build of a shipwreck on a beach looked SURE to win the Civilian Diorama's Category ... got the maker's email and tips about making water displays - but he only came in SECOND (huh? what were those judges looking at??!?!?)

Image

Well, THIS is what they were looking at ... a tiny, yet insanely exquisitely detailed racer sci fi scene ... this one won First Place in our category ... (no, King Kong did not place, but ... I can't tell you how many modelers wanted to talk to me about it and were shooting pictures ... as I had hoped - a GREAT time!!! )

Image

This model of a German WW2 Night Fighter flying above the clouds (see the shadow of the plane on the clouds) was one of my favorite builds at the show ... :drool2:

Image

Well - HEY!?!! WHAT'S THAT??!?!?!

Image

THAT, my friends, is the SILVER medal won by Bill & mine's "Joint Endeavor" Spinosaurus 'bash, that's WHAT!!!! :rolf:

Image

I have hung the medal on the display cabinet underneath the Spino - my first ever medal in a modeling contest!!! (Thanks Bill ... we both know it was your paint job that "did it"!   )

A GREAT TIME!!!! :jam: \:D/ :gulp: :reddance: :hot:
