Tengetsu Crafts Godzilla 66 Commission

#1 Post by Jon LeGrand »

12.75 inches tall, hollow cast resin main body, head and biggest tail section, the rest solid resin. Mine had a lot of casting issues. Seems to be a sculpt of the damaged suit, not an attempt to suspend unbelief like SPX in movies try to do.
Here is a video:

Here are some photos. The client wanted him painted very dark.

Wow!
Listening to the video, I can't believe how much work you had to put into this.
Looking at your finished piece, I would have no idea the castings were so much work to deal with.

I like this kit a lot. The pose is great, the size is great, the sculpt is pretty good. I personally think the face is just a little too lumpy, but that is personal taste. I really like the dark color on it, makes the highlights on the fins stand out more.
The darker color on the claws keeps them from fighting with the fins for attention and helps to give the face the attention it deserves.

Also forgot to mention, I also think the Showa era is the best era.

Jon - one more (unrelated) thing ... just want to give you ANOTHER "thanks!" for recommending those Faber-Castel artists' markers 5 years ago

... not only have they helped me with detailing things like the pattern on Sinbad's outfit, and the eyes on my most recent Kong 'bash ... but they are DARNED useful for "touch up" of small scrapes of paint on all manner of kits.
