Dimetrodon vs Ophiacodon

#1 Post by Kyuzo2802 »

Here's another diorama I had finished earlier depicting dimetrodon squabbling with ophiacodon over some prey one day in the Permian. Sculpted by Vitali Klatt, he injects a lot of dynamism into his work. Again scratchbuilt most of the base and made the diplocaulus (aka boomerang head) amphibian from apoxie for added fauna. Tried to go for an iridescent sheen on the dimetro which doesn't pick up well in the pics. Included some WIP shots as well. Hope you like! :D

Beautiful work.

Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?

Best build up of this dynamic kit I have yet seen! The base is KILLER, just like your "Uncle Beazley" Triceratops base. Amazing detail work!!

I have not made bases for most of my numerous dinosaur kitbashes, but your work is really selling me on how much ambiance a base can add to a figure!! :drool2:

Thank you everyone for your warm feedback! This piece was another labor of love; I wanted to do something along the lines of the dioramas I enjoyed seeing as a kid at the Smithsonian and AMNH. Thought it would be a cool to have something like that in my own home some day. :)

I also have several stand alone dinos but thought why not go the extra mile. If you're still unsure, I'd say do it b/c it really adds another dimension and enhances the whole presentation to another level. ;)

I'd viewed the pics here several times but only just realised I hadn't posted on this thread #-o

Once again, stunning work that really makes the very best of those amazing sculpts
