Russell Canterbury has passed away.

#1 Post by tay666 »

Russ apparently lost his battle with Covid.

I am deeply saddened by this loss. I've known Russ for almost 15 years now.
Spent a lot of time hanging with him and his family at WF.
Most will know him as Three Kings Resin.
Those who have been around a while will also know him as Ledbelly Productions from when he was making those amazing Wonderfest DVDs.

I looked, and this seems to be the last pic I took of him

So sorry to hear this.

Russ hasn't posted in years but was dropping by from time to time  memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=14084

I didn't know Russ well, and only had a few exchanges with him, but a quick search reminded me what a pleasant individual he was. Always conducted himself with grace and humility (and he had a sense-of-humor!)

It appears the company he ran with Scott (memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=15031) stopped producing some time back (don't click on old links - the URL has since been used for "adult material" - there was a thread here about that not too long ago).

If people need a reminder of some of the kits produced - see the pics below (flyers from Wonderfest 2013).

My condolences go out to all his friends and family, and I hope those close to him are safe and well.

A few years ago, some of us from Seattle used his Martian Monk kit as the basis for a group build. He gave us a pretty good price on the kits, and we had a lot of fun:

I remember seeing many of those kits in AFM. I don't think I ever bought one, but they looked like amazing kits.

Thanks for the link bud - I somehow missed that thread first time round. Some great modelling work on that cool kit - very inventive.

I recall having to apologize to him oe year at Wonderfest prior to the incurable cotton mouth he was about to experience.

He told me the next morning I wasn't lyin'.

I am definitely going to miss him.

Damn.

Just saw Russell at WonderFest. His table was right across the aisle from TAG Team's. I've bought several kits from 3 Kings over the years and this time he had a Tuscan Raider Jedi on display. He only brought 2 copies so I quickly snapped one up without looking at the cast. When I got home I inspected the piece and it wasn't up to his usual standards. I messaged Russell and explained the situation. Without hesitation he shipped me a new kit, no questions asked.

I will build it in his honor.

So very sorry to hear of his passing. I have all the Wonderfest DVDs as they are just a fun way to experience the show when you can't attend. They just have such a love of the hobby and good humor about them. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
