Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
I'm having trouble processing this news. We haven't talked in a couple months and I was thinking the other day about reaching out to him. It's going to take time for me to wrap my head around the idea that he's gone. Sorry. Can't seem to get make it fit in my head.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
My association with John goes back to around 2003, when he joined the Clubhouse. X-O Facto productions were the kind of thing that made me feel like a kid. Can't believe that's over, and I can't believe the energetic guy I last spoke with on the phone a few weeks ago is gone.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
Oh this is awful. Was he ill? Or was it unexpected? Terrible. The CH has lost one of its luminaries, and The Hobby has lost an irreplaceable champion.
X-O Facto, while it was active, was an invaluable resource to the hobby community. John himself personally went out of his way 12 years ago to help me secure an uber-rare kit (he arranged for the producer to do a special rotocasting of a gigantic "Toho Kong" resin garage kit for me). I was just talking with him on Facebook last year when I joined the Hobby Modeling page that he helped run.
Rest in Peace.

I am pretty sure it was unexpected.bucketfoot-al wrote:Oh this is awful. Was he ill? Or was it unexpected? Terrible.
He posted about the issues with his leg/foot, that has been an ongoing problem for a while now.
From everything I've been reading, he was in the middle of several projects with plans going forward.
His last post here was on Valentines Day. Just saying he wouldn't be able to make WF this year.
I will be honest and say John could be a handful at times here on the board, but his loss is a big blow. His knowledge and generosity will be sorely missed. Not to mention the catalog of kits he produced.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
This is such a blow, John was a pioneer in the Garage Kit community. I had seen John Tucky's name all over the early days of Gremlins in the Garage and Kitbuilders magazine covers before I met him at Wonderfest in 1996. He had a wicked sense of humor (check out is photo section on his FB page) , we became instant fiends...I mean friends. His two page ads in AFM and Kitbuilders were always my go to for ordering Godzilla and Classic Monster models. When he teamed up with Jeff Yagher , they produced the BEST in a long line of historic monster models that satiated all of us Rezin Headz. I bought most of that line knowing they would become very desirable. And, he brought legendary Godzilla sculptor Yuji Sakai to Wonderfest too. (Thanks for the autographs). Also John was a friend, he would call me up just to chat and share Garage kit gossip. Damn, I am going to miss him. I really cherish all those cools kits we have on our shelves! Here is a great Facebook video of Jeff delivering one of the last great Frankenstein sculpts to John's lair:https://www.facebook.com/john.tucky/vid ... _video_tab

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
This is very sad news.
I only ever spoke directly with John a couple of times over the years but we exchanged messages from time to time, both hobby and non-hobby related.
I tried contacting him about about five or six days ago when I noticed he wasn't posting any thing to his FB page - he was a prolific poster on FB.
When I got back into this hobby it primarily through John and his tremendous line-up of kits.
But more than a kit producer, in my interactions with him I found him to be a good person and I genuinely liked the man.

This is a very sad day for the garage kit community. I first saw John's fabulous build ups in Model and Toy Collector magazines.

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
I had to work late last evening for a new show at the museum I work for and my wife told me the news when I got home. She said it showed up in her Facebook feed just moments before I pulled up in the driveway. I was just stunned and deeply saddened.
I've had the pleasure of knowing John for years as a customer, and I hope, a friend. Is there anyone in our hobby who doesn't have an X-O Facto kit in their collection? His long time collaboration with Jeff's incredible sculpting talents are the stuff of kit fan legend. He always did business with honor and just a plain joy of bringing the best pieces to us resin heads. I can't believe we'll never have another classic horror/Hammer discussion ever again.
These relationships with people who share a passionate love of kits, films and creativity add to the fun part of life amidst the responsibilities of work and daily tasks. Added to the love of, and for our families, pleasures such as building a kit just enrich the tapestry of our lives. I will always be grateful to John for adding such happiness to my life with his creations.
Peace to all,
Stewart

Re: Our Good Friend John Tucky
My wife and I were devastated when we heard of John's passing, we have known him for years and it was only about a week and a half ago that I talked to him on Facebook, he said he haden't been feeling well but said he hoped to be back on his feet in the near future, we had no idea how bad things were.
John was a true friend to everyone in our hobby and always went the extra mile to help people out, he will truly be missed.
