I just so happened to look at Modelers Resource issue #27. This is the issue with the Martian War Machine atop a building on the cover, and I am about to start a MWM project.
I had a moment a sad irony when in this issue is a small autobiography of Hilber. MR had a short lived column of "Who Are They", and Hilber talked a little about himself and his career.

I then looked through about a half dozen issues of the Mag. Hilber did a lot more articles than I remember. I reread each one with earnest. This man had a true gift and calling. I think I can safely say, that we all benefitted from him sharing that gift. I did not know him personally but feel like I did, thanks to his articles. I hope he realized how many people he touched with the inspiration he handed down!

His family is in my thoughts and prayers....

Very sad news. I never got to meet nor speak to him, but read all his articles in MR.
Prayers for him and his family.

Very sorry to hear this. I fondly recall his work in MR, and his stint here as a mod. RIP.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Gentlemen,

I've sent all of your tributes to Hilber's widow, Rhea Leigh. She's very thankful and appreciates all of your kinds words.

That's sad news. I never met him but I knew his work and learned quite a bit from his articles. Too young to go, and he probably had so much more he wanted to do.

Does anyone have any links to photos of his modeling work? I'd be interested in seeing it. He sounded like a cool guy.
