Initially, this was just going to be about 80s movies but I thought and thought while eating my Tamales and I asked, "Junior, why stick to movies when we can also do T.V?"
" Good Idea! " I said, happily and slapping Junior 2 on the back. This pork tamales was particularly good, munching happily.
"But wait!!" interjects, Junior 3 across the bed playing on the ps3. "If we're doing T.V. shows, can we do 80s cartoons, too?"
"Absolutely!" I mumbled chewingly.
"Sure, sure" Junior 2 said absentmindedly, he wasn't really listening at this point, as he was trying to sneak a piece of my Tamales.
I accidentally stuck his hand with my fork. If he wants the last tamales he should have gotten it before. I mean, sure it was 4 weeks old and slightly tangy but hey! First come, first serve.
" Eef we're going to zo all zat let's just make it an homage to the 80s. Eemagine zoing Movies, TeeVee and Music." French Junior says looking at his reflection in the mirror as he adjusts his red scarf around his neck.
I swear there's something wrong with that guy but his idea was just plain perfect. So we make it official and make it a jam about 80s. I'd like to say more but all 4 juniors are eyeing my Tamales. It's not my fault I got the last one. It was sitting in the fridge for a whole month!! Sure the fridge was out the last couple of days or so....
Anyway, I better post the photos, I think it's gonna be Rocky all over, cue the music, Eye of the Tiger, please.
This jam will be over when I escape, I mean get out of the Hospital in two weeks. March 4th, mark it in you calendars, Boyos!

Hey, at least I remembered the Thundercats. That one is just for you, jeremy.

"Whoa! That's the last time I eat month-old tamale! I had some serious delusions last night!!!"
"So did we!" say the other 4 Jr.'s in unison. "Got any left-overs?"
(Cue the creepy pod people music )
I've got 2 ideas for this one.....you've been batting a thousand in the Jam themes Jr.!

Anyways, here's some more progress on my last jam's work...
Even with a crumpled newspaper core, that's 10 lbs of Klean Klay in so far!
I know, right? Doing life scale busts really eats at material. I did the newspaper trick and then used that expanding foam used by plumbers from Home Depot and carved that down. In the end, there is about less of an inch of material on it and when the foam got in the way I just reached in and dug the foam out.
Ungh!!! I so want to get in on this one. Since "MATTLEV" posting of Dr. Lizardo I wanted to do a figure of the bad guys from the 1984 movie "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension". The alien criminals are the Red Lectroids and Christopher Loyd does a great job playing one. A quick internet search showed very few good pictures of the creatures. I can get some screen grabs since I have the disc. Plus it would be cool if the front of the sculpt was his alien head and turn it around and it is Loyd. Now I am really dreaming.
I doubt I will partake because time has been too limited lately. My son bought a 1981 KZ650 and I am helping him get it road ready. Not to mention I am still working on January's jam and 4 things lined up behind it and 60 behind those four things. HA I LOVE IT!

Now why didn't I think of that

The HobbyLobby has male and female styro-heads but they look a tad bit smaller than life-size.
Another good tip!
I took her head off so I can work on it separately...I've rigged it so it slips back into the unfinished torso easily.
BTW - I bought three life masks of actor and actresses and they are really proving to be a great source of references. The best one is the Natasha Henstridge one, as that still retains the pores and all.
If I understand right we can post past jams in a current one. This guy is on his way to being finished. He is the Ice Titan from the elemental jam. I plan on adjusting his head down and/or putting more curve in his spine to give him a more menacing look. He is about 13 inches tall and made from sculpey firm. The ground is made out of Aves epoxy. I will not be casting him in clear resin but instead painting him in blues and whites. This picture is a little hard to see with all the clutter in the background. I'll post pics with teh good camera when he is done.

You certainly can post pics from previous 2012 jam entries, steve. I am glad you did, too. This was one of the entries that I really like. So different from the norm and I really like the design.
Thanks guys, I am glad i am seeing this one to the end.
The "client" (my son Colin who came up with the idea and loves the creature, so I am letting him call the shots) said that the guy needs to be meaner. He wanted him tilted forward. I said no big deal, I will cut through the spine and bend the armature and then use epoxy to repair him. When I cut into him I hit a $*#% brass tube. I originally wanted to practice with making sculpts that you could take apart. I set him up so his chest would detach along with both arms and his head. As I was moving forward I found these points a pain and so the chest was attached to the legs and the arms attached to the head. So last night I dug out some of the brass tubing in his spine, added armature wire and used epoxy to repair the gap. Colin was tickled and said that is exactly what he was looking for.
However I am now unhappy with the arms the are angled back too far so I am going to cut them off and rotate them forward more.
Having some trouble getting Aves epoxy to stick to the baked clay. Any hints? I tried vaseline and it didn't work.

Steve, rough up the baked clay with some 80 or 60 grit sandpaper, get rid of the dust and apply the ApoxieSculpt as soon as it's mixed, while it's really sticky.
I had to re-pose my Terra and it was a bit of a pain getting the lines to flow again into the new position, so I know where you're coming from. Hang in there though, 'cuz it'll be totally worth it to you and Colin.

wipe the area wtih some turpenoid and warm it with a hair dryer. te epoxie should stick instantly to the warmth. place under a lamp to go off which would be about 30 mins with a 100w bulb.
if the epoxie is a bit old an not very tacky, mix a drip of white spirit in to it to freshen it up.
hope that helps Steve.
Thanks Tim. I will try that tonight. I will need to repair cuts plus I want to dress him up with more spikes and he can't go back in the oven at this point because he is fixed to the final base.
