Jam # 117 Mix and Match.

#1 Post by amusedjester »

This current jam topic requires you to combine features. My brain is a mush. No I haven't been smoking or taking anything but I think that for this topic, it is better to have examples and pictures than whole sentences. Gryphons, Medusa, Werewolves, Terminators, harpies, Man-Bat, Cyborgs, Centaurs, etc...

Jam ends in two weeks.

Small amount of progress made on my sculpt from previous jam. Slowly working on thickening up her legs before I move on to the arms and other details.

With the anorexic bug legs and tentacle arms, it looks like it could end up as something really weird looking. LOL!

Lol Phil. Her legs should end up more normal looking by the time it's done. I just work in a weird innefficient way about those kinda things and build them up slowly. Usually covering up details I'd just done and redoing them again and again. I know I could be more efficient at it but I guess I just enjoy building it up slowly in this manner. And I twisted the wire up that way because I had this sitting on the edge of my coffee table and get paranoid my cat will poke his eye out on it of something lol. But I will assure you she will be human. At least I think she will.

Clayman - keep it up you are so close it would be a shame to stop. Your method of finishing before finishing would drive me insane.

I suppose I will show where I was at as of the Sunday before last. I am using a blown up picture of a Clayburn Moore sculpt as my guide and also the blank that I bought from Ehren and the pose is from a Jamie Eason picture. I do want a small chest on her. This attempt was torn up and I started over. That attempt was also started over. So I am now on number three which usually goes best for me.

This femme fatale also fits into the current jam since she is part fish.
Imagine if the creature from the black lagoon mated with a human, had three kids and they all surfed and killed people. Smyrna would be the youngest of the three and a female.

HAHA! That's how I work too. clay bake clay bake... sometimes I hit it with a heatgun just to crust it and set one part while I work on the others, so I don't mess it up.

I'm so IN! Plus this gives me motivation to finish the elemental challenge.
Here's Firefoxgirl, about 2 hours in. I'm using my own blend of modeling wax, M.waxZ. I use the harder waxes for the head and face.
I need to finish some backlogs first, hopefully I can get full cracking on her (and shark girl) tonight.

Im currently going for a bust similar to the pic they did of Summer Glau in the Terminator, Sarah O’Connor Chronicles TV series, im thinking of adding more endoskeleton later though and just carve in to the sculpt.

nice work fellas. good to see some old hats and some new ones in the ring. 8)

Midz- sexy chick with ears. cool. its also nice to make you own waxes isnt it. i use a beeswax mix for 'clay' too.

Clayman- go for it . nice to see you slinging clay again mate. nice start on this Gal.

Anwen- yeah, not bad. can see what you are thinking of.i can see a couple of edits that will help you mate. th shoulders look a little brawny at present so i'd slim em down a touch. everything on women is largely softer and somewhat blended in. that said, i am sure this is just a progress shot and look forward to seeing your idea develop. 8)

Jnr- get off that video game!! ...... :2guns:

Dennis, tell 'im! he's a very naughty mod for not sculpting!

Thanks Tim! Yeah its still in progress, i work by adding the muscles in the right places and then wittling them down to proportion.

OK Moduck is a killer... along those lines i though i could do a Disney marvel mix and really wanted to do the following:

a Donald wolvie

on top of a Humprhey the bear

and call it "Donald vs wild"

unfortuntely having zero experience in cartoony sculpts after toying with the idea and skecthing a bear face in clay i decided i would do something i was more confident with and that i wanted to do for a while so after a week end of clay fun here's Iron Spider:

the base will come after and the mecha arms as well.

You should be aware that i know Kung Fu, Karate, Thai Chi and several other very dangerous words
