I have to agree with Jesse as far as more social sites to visit and talk about the same things. John as far as less guys going it could be a combination of funds or family plans on memorial day weekend. Wonderfest is an established long running event that specifically caters to model kits and has a proven track record in the hobby. You have many international dealers that attend every year. I think the show will just be fine. 8)

On top of all this, I think another reason that you don't see as much excitement here is the advent and increased use of Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler and other social media. Like it or not, A LOT of internet forums have seen a down trend in usage as more and more social networks keep popping up.
I think you are dead on, on both counts.
The show and hotel are sold out. So there are people jonesing for it.
Yeah, some of the people 'we' know, won't be there. But that happens every year. For one reason or another. Either finances, scheduling, health, or family.
And yes, for some, having another show, closer, at a better time of year, or cheaper travel/accommodations, they will go to that show, instead of WF. But many others, will do both shows, or maybe even more than that.
Look at it as a chance to meet even more cool people in the hobby. Because there are new people popping up all the time. Either here on the forum, or down in Louisville, at the show.

I'm in Oregon right now taking a gunfighting course at Thunder Ranch, so I'm just a tiny bit distracted, but I'll be back home on Monday and getting my game face on for WF. Gotta pack my photo rig and figure out how I'm gonna do a backdrop, but that's all I have left to do for the show.

Just talked to CJ and he assures me that I won't be doing my photo seminar to a roomful of people dressed as empty chairs. You guys bring me some models to shoot! Um, photograph.

You're not coming Tom? Damn dude that sucks. The guy I usually come with, my friend and fellow CH member Bilal ( Hobby_Dude ) can't make it either so my enthusiasm is down a bit. I'm sure by Friday all that will change.
Yea man cannot make it this year.. The Air Fair alone from Jersey to Louisville is close to 500.. To be honest.. That
is a lot..

Tom
I know what you are saying about the high cost of airfare Tom, my wife and I are coming to Wonderfest from Washington State and the airfare for the two of us came to $1400.00 and the hotel room was another $400.00. This fare also does cover going from Wonderfest to Memphis to see Elvis's Graceland and the back to Washington State. We will be staying at the Heartbreak Hotel across from Gaceland which cost us an additional $600.00
This is our vacation trip.
