Aerosmiths new single -anyone else hear it ?

#1 Post by GUITARWORX »

Its called Legendary Child

Saw them perform it live last night on Idol and heard it on my local radio station this morning coming into work.
I think Joe Perry smoked it live ,I love the way he plays the guitar.
You can still hear the blues influence on the single like the old days

I heard it. I was pleasantly surprised with it. Nice change from the ballads they've been churning out.

from what I have read
1. it was written by Perry/Tyler
2.It was an out take from the Get A Grip album
and it will be in the New GI Joe Movie (which I think now is delayed)

I have read that Perry promises that the album will have the "old" feel of the earlier albums
blues/rock

Isn't that what they said about the "Honkin On Bobo" album? Part of the problem with that, IMO, is that Perry and clan seem to over exaggerate just how much Blues was on those old albums. There might have been a Blues base, but to the average listener there was no way one could tell how much of a Blues influence there was. The problem with later day Aerosmith had nothing to do with them forgetting the Blues, it was a problem of them losing their creativity and their desire to chase a Top 10 single over just writing tunes because the tunes needed to be written. If the band is sitting down thinking "we need to make this sound like the old stuff, we need more Blues," then IMO the stuff will be lacking, no matter what. It is no longer coming from the heart, it is coming from a sense of what they feel needs to be done.

Just checked out the tune. Ah, gotta love a band that has obviously run so far aground that their lyrics are all self-referential and pulling lines from the past. I guess it isn't too bad, but I do agree with one You Tube poster commenting that Jimmy Page wants his riff back.
