Re: UPS Nightmare
You mean BESIDES loading refrigerators and ovens on top of every package I've ever sent out through them?!! It's gotten so bad I drive an extra 9 miles past the local UPS store to the post office. Longer lines, by far, but it's worth it for the piece of mind that the kit will arrive safely. And no matter how well the item is packed, UPS has turned my every claim. It had gotten so bad that the nice folks at the UPS store felt so sorry for me (and more than a little guilty), they gave me a $100 credit after one of my built-ups was CRUSHED under a much, much larger package.
So, yeah, I've got an issue or two with 'em...

Re: UPS Nightmare
Only lost 1 package in 20 years. It was insured and I got my money back. I really don't have a problem with them. My local UPS driver is a very nice young woman who goes out of her way to be helpful.

I have a jerk who is too lazy to show up.Claims he was here.So the package (kit) was returned to the warehouse 1 & a 1/2 hours away.It was sent to me as a gift & they want me to pay a brokerage fee of $67.81 !! Too much work to buzz me.Guess I should have camped out in the lobby. Then the girl on the phone hinted I was a liar! Now it`s being shipped to my nearest UPS store way across town & I now have to wait another week. Then had the nerve to try & charge me $5 for that transaction! Told them to take it out of lazy ass`s paycheck. That Batman Guy wrote:Only lost 1 package in 20 years. It was insured and I got my money back. I really don't have a problem with them. Re: UPS Nightmare
I had the day off from work and knew a package was supposed to arrive by UPS, so I spent half the day looking out the window for the UPS truck. I track it later in the day and the message "not home, notice left" shows up. Guess they didn't want to come out my road.I have a jerk who is too lazy to show up.

Re: UPS Nightmare
Not my personal experience, but indicative of the "service." You know how both UPS and FedEx are now partnering with the USPS for some deliveries? The parcel driver is supposed to deliver a bag of packages to the local Post Office, who then actually make the deliveries with the regular mail. There's a UPS driver here who delivers the bag of packages to our little Post Office whether it's open or not. A couple of weeks ago, I went into the Post Office one night to check my box and there was a bag of packages laying in the floor next to the door. Friday night, there was a bag of packages laying on the sidewalk outside the Post Office building. I'd hate to know my package was in that bag.

Re: UPS Nightmare
Believe it or not, I've had better experiences both sending and receiving packages from the USPS! UPS in this area is horrible. Packages damaged, left on the front step all night, when all it would have taken is for the driver to knock on the door! Hope they never contract the USPS out to private delivery companies.

I know all about that. That guy is a lazy ass as well.He won`t bother to buzz my apartment but always checks off NO ANSWER.Here the postal people are suppose to work 8 hours but they all rush through to get it done in 4.Joseph Osborn wrote:Not my personal experience, but indicative of the "service." Re: UPS Nightmare
UPS is the absolute worst in this city! I have never sent a UPS package that didn't arrive damaged, whereas none of the USPS packages I sent had any problems. I refuse to use UPS to ship stuff out.

Re: UPS Nightmare
Each and everyone of you that has had a problem in the past with any delivery service, needs to contact their boss and report the delivery person. I've only had to do this once with a new USPS delivery girl. She has shaped up into a top notch worker.

I tried to complain but the girl was trying to suggest I was a liar.Which didn`t go over too well. And the USPS just passes the buck. That Batman Guy wrote:Each and everyone of you that has had a problem in the past with any delivery service, needs to contact their boss and report the delivery person. Re: UPS Nightmare
Can't say much about the "delivery" aspect of UPS in the US, as our local drivers are generally pretty good, with one exception, BUT, having worked on the "unload" crew at the main UPS facility in MN for a while, I can certainly see how packages get destroyed...
They are packed floor (and under the floor) to ceiling, in what they refer to as "tiers". Each tier is the stack of boxes directly in front of you, side to side, and up and down. Their training consisted of- "Knock the tier down and get the boxes on the conveyor belt, as fast as you can!" Keep in mind that the inside dimensions or the trucks were 8 and (with "belly loaders") 10 feet high, and it's pretty easy to see all of our fragile stuff getting all sorts of systematically encouraged abuse, just by falling that far.
Now, I doubt that any of the other major shippers deviate much from this "business model", but I will NEVER use UPS nor FedEx for package delivery unless they disband the USPS for other reasons, like automatic, charged "customs tendering" and "brokerage" for international deliveries, and all sorts of other "hidden" fees that they tack on...
Not only that, but the scare of felony/federal charges under the postal fraud laws for any misuse of their service is enough to keep me using USPS, even given their sometimes wonky tracking, and recently increased fees. They are still less than the other sets of initials, PLUS, they don't automatically put packages through customs, and charge both the sender and recipient (plus any VAT/customs fees/ duties) the "brokering fees"!

Re: UPS Nightmare
UPS sucks A$$. My biggest complaint is the amount of time to get it here. Example. Package from West Covino Cal. to pittsburgh,Pa. U.S.postal priority -2 days. ---UPS same package same location, l week to 10 days. This happens constantly from no matter where in the US.Terrible ,terrible, terrible. Thats why there trucks are BROWN. The service ain't worth a
Good S*%!

I have never received a package from UPS that was not damaged. I always use USPS priority. Only one problem in six years.
