Introducing PaleoWorld Studios.

#1 Post by gorgosaurus »

I´ve received some kits from a new European producer of prehistoric animal kits, "PaleoWorld Studios".
The Studio comprises three sculptors - Vladimir Trush and Gennady Danshin of Russia along with Vitali Klatt in Germany.
Their kits are cast in high-quality polyurethane resin and distributed from Germany.

Inostrancevia and Scutosaurus is in 1/10, sculpted by Vitali Klatt.

This Tarbosaurus bataar is in 1/40. Sculpted by Vladimir Trush.
There is a lot of his work that I like, however this one doesn´t quite float my boat.

For me, there´s a lot more water under this Tarbosaurus bataar vs Tarchia gigantea scene is in 1/40, sculpted by Vladimir Trush and Vitali Klatt.
I bought the Tarchia on its own, but am seriously considering buying the pair aswell.
Tarchia is cast in several pieces, but mine came mostly assembled - all I had to do was glue the tail on.
The joins are very well designed and engineered, with plugs and tight fits placed so that they virtually disappear.

I bought their Olorotitan arharensis in 1/40, sculpted by Vitali Klatt.
7 piece kit - head, body, tail and 4 limbs, plus base.
Something about it jarred with my sensibilities at first, but the "swan-neck" is growing on me.
The dorsal spines depicted may have been restricted to hadrosaurines, whilst lambeosauruines had a dorsal "frill".
Must check that this is at all grounded in the scientific literature and not something I picked up from an unreliable source.
The crest is better than other representations I own. It may not have been this inflated ventrally, but the fossil bone preserved here is very thin and crushed flat.

My 1/10 Turanoceratops tardabilis is destined for a special little conversion.
No quibbling that Vitali Klatt´s original pose is impressively dynamic.
5 piece kit - body and four legs, plus base. Excellent fit.

It paints up very well. (This is Vitali´s work, I think, mine is built but not painted yet).

These sculpts are all full of "personality" and packed with detail.
The clean, crisp, almost faultless castings fit very well together, needing relatively little clean up and puttying.
All parts are keyed for strong and tight joins.
If there are any minor inaccuracies they are debatable and an easy fix for any modeller worth his salt. Most won´t notice them.
To keep cost down, packaging is very basic - which is just fine by me.
The kits cost around 40-45 Euro´s each, double this for the duelling pairs, plus shipping.
If you want to buy, contact vitali.klatt@gmx.de

PaleoWorld Studios call themselves a "new on the market" Studio.
I will certainly be supporting and promoting them as much as I can.

Spike.

Yes, I got my first shipment from them and I can't get over how impressed I am with them. For the price, I thought they were going to be very small. I was shocked at the size of the box that showed up on my doorstep. I got the Instrovencia vs Scutosaurus and the Tarbosaurus vs Tarchia. Mine were completely and flawlessly assembled already. The collector can go right into the painting mode.

My Tarchia was partly assembled, too - just had to glue the tail on.
It´s an impressive piece.
Turoksos, what´s your opinion on the Tarbosaurus?

I have both the Tarbosaurus & the Tarchis/Tarbosaurus-these are great sculptures and the Olorotitan looks like a winner!
Do not pursue him! He will not return to these lands. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of Man will he fall..

I am very impressed! I like 'em all alot. The creatures have such well defined structure and that surface detail would be a joy to paint.

So, can we get a price list posted in U.S. currency?

Thanks!

No web-site or price-list as yet.
This is everything apart from the 2 Australopithecus I´ll post in another thread.
For prices, contact Vitali in Germany at the e-mail address I gave in the first post.

To find out what real money is in US$, try an on-line currency converter like this :-

The Tarbosaurus in the fighting duel is excellent. I don't have the individual Tarbosaurus (yet), but trust me, if I didn't like it or thought it totally inaccurate, I would not have ordered it. Since no one has ever seen one in the flesh, who knows which artist is closest to being correct. These Tarbosaurs remind me of Tony McVey work as far as the skin texture (which I like). The skin detail on the Scutosaurus and the Tarchia is out of this world as far as detail. One thing everyone needs to know about the Scutosaurus and the Tarchia, is that they are hollow (to keep the price down I assume), but the walls are thick. No thin, hold it up to the light and can see through on these beasts. Very sturdy. I am not going to say what I paid for these models because I will leave that up to the seller, but I was extremely satisfied with the quality (outstanding!) vs the price (which was extremely affordable in my opinion).

Dear guys, a thousand thanks to all you for the good words about our modelworks. Especially - to Spike
At present we are working for new figures of paleo fauna - permian reptiles, pleistocene mammals and hominides.
By the way, some dino-figures made by our sculptor Vladimir Trush you can see at his site:

Best regards,
Gennady Danshin.

Welcome to the Tar Pit, Gennady.
I´m sure this will be a good place for you and PaleoWorld Studios and am looking forward to seeing you start lots of new posts with your furture releases.

THANKS for the link to Vladimir´s work. I´ve been admiring his work via deviantart for some time and very much like the "natural" way he portrays Dinosaurs as animals in their environment.

Having seen sheep and horses eat dead birds found on the ground and also injured living birds they kill, I don´t this this is too improbable...

A herbivore chasing off a herbivore - watch out for that beak! Like this a lot.

I love these figures! I too have been kinda stalking Vladimir's work on deviantart! Love it!!! The tarbosaurs and tarchia are definitely on my list! I like the olorotitan simply because it reminds me of the artwork of William stout. if some prehistoric trees sculpts come up to buy those will be on my list too :)

Sorry, Mike, but they don´t have a web-site.
These are just 3 guys who are enthusiastic about sculpting prehistoric animals and have cast some of their work.
I´ve encouraged them to start a web-site up as it would be good for them.
All I have is the e-mail address for personal contact with Vitali Klatt in Germany at vitali.klatt@gmx.de
