Mottling technique?
Hello everyone. Does anyone know of or can point me to a good mottling tutorial? I have seen the basic David Fisher video but would like to see if anyone has something more complex. Thanks.

I obtained some very nice mottling templates from Comart paints and they worked extremely well.

What are mottling templates?
Try Stan Winston Studios' videos. Casey Love has a video on there on how to paint a bust that is great. Very detailed. Just what your looking for. Lots of mottling

Looks good. Thanks for the tip. Is the whole video worth the price? Or should I buy just that segment?Arith wrote:What are mottling templates?

The templates Larry is referring to are called "Organic" and are part of the Iwata/Artool line.jasonjaconetti wrote:Templates huh...that sounds interesting

We used them in the Dino 101 class and everyone was pleased with them.
You can pick them up from Tom at TagTeam Hobbies.

Re: Mottling technique?
I was surprised to learn I had these templates. I bought them at Hobby Lobby a few months ago and forgot about them. Are there specific scales 1/4, 1/6, etc. that you use them for or anything goes?veedubb67 wrote:The templates Larry is referring to are called "Organic" and are part of the Iwata/Artool line.jasonjaconetti wrote:Templates huh...that sounds interesting

Re: Mottling technique?
There's actually two sizes - full size (regular sheet) and the mini series (half sheet). We used the mini's in the Dino 101 class.
