Boxing Dog Models, Inner Demon - another take

#1 Post by csoldier »

Here’s my interpretation of Paul Evans’ (Boxing Dog Models) ‘The Inner Demon’ sculpted by Jake Corrick.

I painted the skin by giving it a flesh basecoat and then dipping it in a bowl of water. While still wet I dripped inks on it to let capillary action take over (this can be messy).

Subtle shading done with chalk pastels.

I decided to add some hair using plumber’s hemp which seems to work well.

Had a minor ‘mare when the Games Workshop sealant I used between coats went all opaque, but fortunately this was mainly on the back of the head and with a bit of scrubbing and rubbing I managed to get rid. This only happened on one coat the rest went okay.

I think it has already been said on related posts what a great all-round production and deal this is, but at the risk of repeating myself and others, I would highly recommend this sculpt and the service behind it.

OOps, forgot to mention - the tongue is from an old Horizon Venom kit which I have never built and is being converted to something else.

Thanks Paul, glad you like it (phew! ). The base isn't quite as tall as it looks from the angle of the image so hopefully no chance of toppling over :D .

Its the newsletter I produce for the IPMS UK Sci-Fi & Fantasy Special Interest Group (SIG) which I've been running for the past decade. Its a small circulation to the 20-ish SIG members as part of their subscription, which also gives the members display space at the various model shows we go to.

Thanks Jake,

Much appreciated (all comments  ), I think if a sculptor, and the producer of a kit are happy with an end result then the modeller should be very happy  .

Looking forward to seeing future collaborations :D .
