Frank's Boy by Alfred Parades. Completed
At last I’ve finished Alfred’s Parades’ larger than life, ‘Frank’s Boy’ .
I had actually finished the figure some while back, but hit the modelling doldrums with the scenic back-drop . What you see is Plan B, which works a lot better than the original Plan A. It pays (I hope) to take a step back and look at an idea that isn’t working and if necessary, start again .
The scene is supposed to depict the ‘Monster’ having broken his chain bonds, is coming after his creator (who has already fled the scene). I painted the figure to try to depict the breakdown of his body tissues as the life-giving process starts to fail, and decomposition starts to kick in .
Originally there was going to be a lot more body organs on the bench from the ’Visible Man’ kit which is about the same scale, in the end though I chose to just use the brain, although I did use a kidney from an educational toy to provide some ‘munchies’ for the rat .
The ‘Brain-Frame’ is made up of spares from a Tamiya Lancaster Bomber open engine option; they looked suitably late 18th/early 19th Century scientific instruments once glued together.
The tall thing in the corner is the UV light from a garden pond pump, with a base section made from a spare toilet (WC) flusher handle. This is supposed to be the power-source for the Brain-frame.
The workbench is an old bird table shelf with legs added from firework sticks. I should add that the flowers are not part of the scene, I forgot to remove them for the photographs, however I may leave them there.
A big thanks to Alfred for producing this

Very nice - like the slightly putrid skin tone, I may have to pinch that idea although the monster I'm planning is a lot smaller

Outstanding modeling and painting!

Great work on this, I really like the way it came out.
I think you should keep the flowers. They act as a counterpoint to the rest of the scene and add a little bit of 'humanity' (if that's the right word) to it. It makes the doctor seem less like some evil scientist.

Much appreciated and glad you like your creation . Flesh eating for two, and Zombaby Daddy hopefully next . Figures are finished, just need to make a suitable base for them.
P.s. sorry I spelt your surname wrong, my bad!

I agree about the flowers... Dude this is a kicking build up of the monster... Really nice to see a different take indeed.

The little scene you posed him in is perfect - It tells a story without overwhelming the figure.
Beautiful work all around!

If you hadn't told how you did it, I would have thought the whole thing came together.
And the paintwork sets the mood perfectly and gives it a gruesome realism.
