Where are the winners at ?

#1 Post by snake_pliskin68 »

I don't see it as patting your own back, but I was wondering how many CH members got an award and what was it for?

I got a Bronze for my Caracalillo from the Blackheart/Badger class. Not bad for a 5+ hour paint job. :D

And the wife got a Silver (Only her second time coming to the show, and second time entering a kit  ) for her Godzilla wire sculpture.

Since I don't know real names with ID's here, and I was at the award ceremony, what did you get?

Love the Caracalillo bust - wish I'd picked one up!

I also saw all the wire sculptures your wife did and the Godzilla piece blew me away!

As for me, I took two pieces this year.

The Pegasus Spinosaurus garnered a Bronze.

My Pegasus Nautilus took a Silver.

The big surprise came when it also won BEST SCI-FI MODEL sponsored by the Museum of Science Fiction. You could have knocked me over with a feather!

I received a Bronze for a buildup I did of a super deform John Marsten in "Humor and Super Deform"
I received a Silver for my Venom in Super Heros and Super Villians.
I received a Gold for my Power Girl in Super Heros and Super Villians.
I received a Gold for my Blackheart Alien Head in Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
I received a Gold for my Filmy's Girls "Pearl" in Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
And I received an award for "Best Embodyment of the Flintstone Spirit" for my entry in the N.R.A. On Sat. night.

I LOVED the 20,000 Leagues piece! Blew me away. And well deserved for the Best award.

Yeah, that Power Girl was nice. Who makes that? And the wife and I were impressed with the paint job on the Alien bust. Kudos on the wins!

I was at N.R.A. ; which was yours? Sorry for not remembering; most of the weekend was a blur.

It was my first year for entering anything in the model contest. I was very pleased when one of my Warhammer Fantasy Battle miniature ogres received a Silver. :D

I won bronze for my "Gasoline Dreams" Frankenstein head, The Outer Limits Chameleon, The Blob, and The Evil of Frankenstein bust.

I won silver for my "Monster head on a stick", which was the first thing I ever painted!

I won gold for my horizon "Creature From the Black Lagoon" dio.

I don't mean to see overly cocky or braggadocious, but I consider it quite a feat to win a gold at WF with only one year of painting under my belt. I'm extremely proud of that fact, but I remain humble. On to the pics:

Sorry for the not so great photo quality... I've got to get a better setup.

Thanks for sharing your pictures of Caracolilla. I love seeing the different paintups from different artists, as it is quite open to many different interpretations. You have done an excellent job and I'm glad you got an award for it. I love the way you painted the shell section. Specially impressive for a 5 hour paint job! I have spent 2 hours on mine and it is not even close to a "WIP" status :)

Congratulations to all the award winners. Really impressive display of talent in this thread.

Yeah, you were one of those winners who needed a box to carry away your awards. Congratulations!

Thanks, Dave.

Yep, the new wife is quite an artist in her own right. I'm trying to get her to start sculpting some things in Super Sculpey, so she can some serious winning. I know she can do it!

I felt that you got robbed on the swimming Godzilla. The air bubble effects were excellent on that. Should have been a Silver. But well deserved on the diorama. Very nice!
