CM Studio Running T-Rex Pair female

#1 Post by MtlPaleoartist »

Hey everybody,

Back with pictures of another kit I just finished. This is the first T-Rex of CM Studio's Running T-Rex Pair. This is gonna be the female in my personal pair. I'll be starting the male soon.

Enjoy!

Nice work, really like the mottling effect you've got on this beast.

I like the paint on this one, it looks like it works well with the paint of the pieces on McGrady's website. Can't wait to see the male.

But how do you know it's a female? Do you go out in the part and pull their little skirts?

Looks good. The pair running should make an awesome display!

Have just started learning how to paint dinosaurs. I have been mostly a Predator fan.
It is so funny that I can build and paint a Predator but don't have a clue in how some of the kits are painted.
Anyway just wanted to thank the likes of Mr. Garret and Charlie McGrady for keeping me interested to have me purchased pieces from Shane Folkes and DaSilva for putting out these great pieces.
Any painting tips would be helpful. I am painting the Spinosarous the Shane put out about 10 years ago.
Thanks,
Bobby D

A bunch of years ago at an IPMS Nationals there was a seminar on  (shock) "Painting Dinosaurs." I *think* it was at the Atlanta show (FWIW). Anyway, his take was that dinosaurs were big like tanks, so he had a collection of models where he used the camo that was used on armor and used it on his animals. It looked really good. I had taken pics, but for whatever reason I can't find them now.
So while many of us use mammals, birds and fish for inspiration, take a look at camo references for some of your dinos.
