Thanks for showing that Denis, it looks good.
Presumably there could be a few other parts to the finished kit and I wonder whether Marley could be available in clear resin?

Yep this kit is available now...I just ordered mine yesterday....

You can get Marley in Glow or Clear.... the choice is yours...
The fire also comes in clear or glow.....
This quote is straight from Todd "The kit is 17 or 18 parts (I need to recount), solid and rotocast parts. I'm going to offer it in "regular" and "glow" editions. The regular kits include transparent parts for the ghost, chests and flames. The glow ghost and chests are cast in green, and the flames in orange."

Cool or what?

Hi folks.

I'm going to have to start paying Denis for all the great publicity. I think he's sold more of my kits over the years than I have. Here's the basic email I've been sending out the last couple of days, because production is going pretty slowly at the moment. I'm making a list and not taking money until kits are ready to go.

I'll put it up on the "New Kits" forum when I've got a decent backlog.

The message:

The Marley molds are finished and I'm starting to make kits. I'm also taking on freelance work and that's keeping me buried, but I'm sneaking in Marley parts as time allows. The kit is 20 or so parts (I need to recount), solid and rotocast. I'm going to offer it in "regular" and "glow" editions. The regular kits include transparent parts for the ghost, chests and flames. The glow ghost and chests are cast in green, and the flames in orange.

The standard version with transparent parts is $200 U.S., the glow version is $225. That's more than I'd like, but the kit is a time-and-material eater. It's also big.

The shipping box is going to be a large 20"x13"x10". The first kit I shipped out weighed 9.5 pounds, although the box was a bit bigger. That would mean a little more than $20 to ship standard post; a lot more via priority unless I can get myself set up for click-and-ship again. I hope to be able to cut the shipping weight when the proper-size boxes arrive in a few days.

If you'd like one, please let me know which version you'd prefer and I don't want any money until it's ready to go.

Or, if you can't get it now for whatever reason, that's fine too.

Thanks.
Todd

I got my copy from Todd at the beginning of the week, to do the paint-up for him. I opted for the translucent parts.

I still have the tape I used to mask the pinstriping from last time...so, if the paint is still good, yes I will. The big challenge this time is assembling Marley without pins showing through the translucent resin and still supporting him. Well, that and painting the figure is such a way to bring out the details without losing the transparency.

Don't use pins...Use Lepages 2-part 5 minute epoxy, it is clear and it looks like the arms are keyed so it should be a good fit!... Maybe one pin from the leger to the floor which can be easily hidden with a little dry brushing as camouflage...? I'll know better when I get my hands on the kit...(well maybe)....lol

Looks like the shipping weight on this kit is going to remain 9.5 pounds. Tried to lighten it up a bit but failed. Very slowly working through the list of people who've contacted me.

What time frame are we talking about here as far as production? I am interested in getting one these eventually. I have the first one and it is great. Also will we see the other two ghosts with Scrooge? What is the overall plan for this line? Also just a thought but you might consider casting the candle in clear or glow orange as well.
Reality is for those who can not handle fantasy.

The production time frame is open-ended, as it is with all the kits I produce. I'll keep making them until the molds burn out and it's not in enough demand to remold. The first one is still available as well; I'm glad you like that one.

I haven't given up on the idea of doing all four ghosts, but given that it's -- what? four years? -- since I rolled out the last one, it'll be a while if it happens.

And I agree on the candle, but I find the really fine parts hard to cast transparent in such a small mold. The transparent resin I use is thicker, and it takes longer to fully set, which is a bigger problem when the piece is so small. Still, I did try pouring one that way and have to pull it out of the mold to find out how it did.
