Arnold 1/6 scale

#1 Post by Eden.S »

Hi Everyone,
Thought I'd share some progress pictures of a figure of a young (26 year old) Arnold Schwarzenegger. I've been working on this for a while on and off in my spare time.
This is a tribute to how he looked in 1973-74 which are generally believed to be his best years as a bodybuilder. The muscle mass and conditioning displayed in this sculpt are accurate and show why he was so dominant in the world of competitive bodybuilding at that time. Arnold did not have the the narrowest hip structure compared to some of his fellow competitors so used to angle his hips and twist his torso a bit in this pose to make his waist and hips appear more streamlined. Doing this created the illusion of his massive arms and torso appearing even more impressive by comparison. I'm still in the process of finishing the legs and feet to the same level as this, so only posting upper body pics for now.
A human body built to this level is not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm sure there are some Arnold fans out there that will appreciate seeing my take on how awesome he looked in his prime. More pics soon to follow that will show the full figure.

Great likeness and anatomy is spot on.
This is probably the best bodybuilding statue representation
of Arnold I have seen.
Sure he will appreciate a copy of this one
if you cast it.

Incredible work! The details of veins on his lower stomach and arms really bring the piece to life.

Perfect! It is a 3d page from bodybuilding history. The rendering of the face is outstanding, but to do a likeness of the entire figure. That is just on a whole other level :!:

Thanks Guys! Cheers Showboat, Arnold is coming to Australia next year so with any luck, I'll show the finished piece to him.
Glad you noticed those veins Swan. All the veins on this sculpt are in the appropriate places according to reference pics, so none of them have been placed randomly and they do help to highlight the body's conditioning. Some need softening and blending down as you can see in the pics, they are still a little harsh in some places.
Yes timetraveller, it definitely has been challenging to tackle a sculpture on which an arm has as much or more character than the head does! Arnold possibly has one of the the most photographed and filmed body's in the history of mainstream media. This means there are no problems finding reference material of his physique from all the necessary angles, but there is also an understanding that any flaws in this piece will be recognizable too, to a discerning eye. Must admit it is difficult to find shots of the tops of his feet though! More pics soon.

You definitely need to make a short video clip/pics when you present it to him,
would love to see his face/reaction.
