General Zod

#1 Post by resin addict »

OK...here's one that I've been working on for a friend of mine for quite a while...it's one that I had to think about as to how to do certain aspects of the kit, and once I was "enlightened" as to a technique I went with it...I think it turned out really well; it's big, nearly 2 feet tall...it's kind of an obscure piece based on a specific costume in a particular comic...I have no idea who the sculptor or producer is, it was just sent to me with the instructions to "make it look good".
I used a combination of GK Colors acrylics, Testors enamels, Comart Pearls and Candys, Alclad, and automotive clearcoat for the mirror/high gloss finish.
The thing that I had to think about for the longest time was the flames on the base, and how to do them in as realistic a way as possible...when it was all said and done, I'm quite pleased with the outcome.
He does have an alternate head (wearing a helmet) that I've still go to spray the clear on, so when that's done I'll add pictures.
Enjoy...
Oh...I took a few pictures outdoors in order to show the actual colors, the indoor pictures don't seem to be 100% true, especially on the flesh tones.

Wow...what a fabulous build up Randy!!! Just incredible work! Not familiar with this version of him either, but your execution on this is nothing short of perfect!
