Thats a lot of money!

#1 Post by kevtk135 »

I don't know how many ppl watch kickstarter for the miniature games. There is this game who is active now on KS needed $300K to complete this game.
The campaign is for 30 days and in 3 days the project met it's funding. Now with a little less than 12 days to go, it has risen to $2.91 million!. WOW thats a lot of money! :shocked2:

Cool Mini or Not has done quite a few kickstarters over the years to fund their games. 3 days is slow IMO, I was part of one that met funding in less than 1 hour. They know they will smash the required amount. It's deliberately set low (cost of making the molds, nothing else). I bought Zombicide and the Aliens rip-off sci-fi game back when they were offered, as well as a few others. Never played any after receiving them. The game mechanics are often unplayable.

Figures are okay but definitely low quality, low detail, mass produced ABS or PVC type figures. Wait until 3-6 months after they ship and you'll be able to buy the game for half price (or less) online. Also, their ship date is BS, when I stopped watching their releases, they'd never met an expected ship date. They also have a habit of burning bridges with their game creators, so if they are promising future add-ons those probably won't happen.

This is quite a bit more negative than I'd originally intended. I guess I still have some "unsatisfied customer" anger.

If you like the game and are willing to pay the price for the figures, buy it. Or if you want the kickstarter exclusive figures...a few of those have some value on ebay. One warning though, they often receive cease and desist letters regarding their exclusive figures so what you order and what you receive will likely be different.

It's all good. I like all opinions.
I picked up their Viking game ... Blood Rage when it was on Kickstarter.
I actually don't play but if they have a few larger sized figures included or part of the unlocked series, then I'll join up. For Blood Rage there was prolly 5 or 6 figures that caught my eye. If the figs are all 28mm or 32mm then I pass. I just don't see that well anymore.
This new game also has a large handful of figs that look interesting - especially the Dragon that was unlocked a few days ago.
And agreed they do seem to take a VERY long time from when the KS ends and you get it in the mail.
