Presenting the "Cosmic Ray Diffuser" from Starlighting Proje

#1 Post by Spockr »

This project is far enough along to share preview photos..

Originally created by the great Kenneth Strickfaden the CRD may be the most easily recognizable of all the Frankenstein film props. The look of this repro-piece was created with painstaking research and many hours of detailed work to develop a thoroughly accurate likeness of the legendary prop in all its glory!

Enjoy the gallery and let me know what you think!!

The Cosmic Ray Diffuser kit will be premiering at Wonderfest 2018!

I don't know what you plan to do about the coil spring thingies, but perhaps you could add a mandrel to wind them around, using soft copper wire. The mandrel would be shaped like a screw, and enough smaller in diameter than the desired size of coil to allow for springback. To get the coil off the mandrel, you'd just "unscrew" it.

Good question. A "Coil winder tool" will be included with the kit for this purpose.

Here is and example of the coil mounted and the tool that is used to make it.

Excellent! It would be an excellent addition to any lab. I like all the little coils and details.

That is a museum quality replica. You have created a new genre for models. Items such as this can be appreciated and displayed in their own right and need not be considered as accessories to a figure.

Please put me down for one, I have had a years long plan to recreate the Frankenstein lab in 1/6th, and this would make it a lot easier to get there, as it is the toughest part to build
Another one to do is the lower half with all the lamps, the gauges and the main switch with the amp pump, looks like a steam valve lying on it's back.

at the 2007 Wonderfest and I can't remember the guy's name, but he did a scratch build of all the lab machines with the Clive figure.. It was in the display room, and it was awesome I have been dying to do one for myself all these years.

It would of course need a light kit.!

I don't know why and what for, but I want one.

These are fantastic. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I wish these had been around back when I did that huge lab diorama. Great work.

Oh Man! I am in like Flynn for this, this would put me a year ahead in building my 1931 lab diorama
Due to health reasons I can no longer travel from the west coast to Wonderfest, so put me in for the full set of diffuser and cabinet!!!

Thanks,

Brilliant! I wouldn't even need to build out a whole lab to appreciate something like this... the attention to detail AND you're including a coil winder tool?!?

Tip of the cap to you Matt... this looks fantastic! What's the scale?
