Me too. First time I heard "You Need Loving" I was knocked over at it's similarity to Zep's "Whole Lotta' Love" - especially the vocals. Obviously Page and Plant were big Small Faces fans.raydrz wrote:love anything Steve marriott

Don't know how I forgot to mention that one myself.
Been enjoying it for a while now. Such a powerful rendition.

Re: Your favorite "cover" songs
Yes they did.
They gave it a bit more of an 'edge' but still kept it recognizable.
And Shadow does the vocals justice.
Though I do wish they would have made it a bit more 'their own'.
I prefer covers that sound new, or different. If it's too much the same, then why not just listen to the original.
But, since the song was part of an album of B-sides, covers, and remixes that was thrown in with a live DVD, I can understand why it wasn't a more polished attempt.

Re: Your favorite "cover" songs
I really like Halestorm's version of the Gaga song Bad Romance -
https://youtu.be/8vmhnxVF1GU
I also "found" these guys recently - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They have about 8 or 9 albums all in the "punky" vein, and all are covers. I've been playing them a lot lately -
Cat Stevens' Wild World - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu0HTIuihy8
Whitney Houston's I will always Love You - https://youtu.be/wC4PRbgGikI
Seems like a fun band. Wanna see them live.

Re: Your favorite "cover" songs
Well, I don't know where else to put this, and this thread isn't getting any use.
Want to bring some attention to Leo Moracchioli.
He is a musician from Norway who does amazing metal covers of songs under the name Frog Leap Studios. It's even more amazing when you realize he does all of it. Vocals, guitars, bass, drums, editing, mixing, the who ball of wax.
I first discovered him about 4 years ago (and could have sworn I mentioned him on here somewhere before). Not only does he do some really cool covers, but he also has a great sense of humor about doing it as well. Which makes the videos fun and entertaining. Honestly, some of this stuff I never heard the original because I don't do 'pop' music, but his versions are great, and have even made their way into my playlists.
Much like the first video I have saw from him
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtQUJMBH8uE Adele - Hello
Which lead me to check out something I was more familiar with
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzpmKoqRXFc BOC - (Don´t Fear) The Reaper
I found that to be both good, and fun, so I dug a bit more.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNENVZFHutQ Feel Good Inc.
The song was ok, but I was really drawn to the twisted sense of art of having a dude in a bunny suit playing the song while running around a mall. And to do it all in one take was just the icing on the cake. (the bunny suit gets lots of mileage in videos over the years. Kind of like the defacto mascot for the channel)
So, when his next video came out, I had to check it out. And I was not disappointed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adnAIJUnyYg Blur - Song 2
Bonus, we get to meet his family in this one.
He really hits all kinds of styles and genres
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH9FyLsfDzw Toto - Africa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WekfTZpX8Mk White Wedding (first puppet)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzFl1j5-urE I Kissed a Girl (another puppet)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bir1Wf5eSBQ Here Comes the Sun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVAT1LUb-jU Turn Down For What
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POdbe-_bYbs Baby Shark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjSuZgNgMZc Pokemon Theme
So why am I writing this big long post about all of this?
I don't know. I just think it is cool that someone can take some talent, some creativity, and a lot of hard work, and make a living at it. I enjoy not only what he does, but also watching as things have progressed over the years.
This year has seen a few big milestones for him and his family.
They moved, and used one of his music videos to help sell their home
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAAqKVEMVN0 Our House
Not only was that a smart move, but he also littered the entire video with eater eggs for his long time fans.
A little over a year ago he started taking the whole thing on the road.
Got some other talented friends and started playing live shows.
This year they even got booked for some of the festivals in Europe.
That's kinda what spurred this post. Me watching the video he just put up of them playing the main stage at Nova Rock
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55_VJf3hRRo
Yeah, it's a 2 AM special show. But still, a cover band is playing the main stage at a European festival! How cool is that?
They followed Slayer
For a long time fan of his channel it was just so amazing seeing the bunny crowd surfing. The thousands of people that stuck around for their show. A mosh pit to the Pokemon theme song!
