Paypal Will No longer Be On ebay

#1 Post by scuzzfink85 »

As payment system by 2021. This good news for me and alot sellers on ebay..
Ebay will create a new payment source besides just taking credit cards
as there second payment option on checkout.

I dunno, man, eBay hasn't done a single thing that has made me happy as a seller in the last decade or more. Seriously, not one single thing. Even the increased number of free listings hasn't been much of a boon because it stifled some good eBay alternatives that were starting to gain ground, such as Bonanzle (now Bonanza). I'm more worried about this change than excited.

I'm not saying I "prefer" PayPal, just that I'm extremely suspicious of eBay. I mean, seriously, how many years have sellers been objecting to the rule that forbids them to leave negative feedback for buyers? How many years have sellers complained about eBay taking a percentage of the shipping cost? Who really thinks eBay's push to make sellers offer "free" shipping (by jacking up the price of the item being sold) has worked out well for them?

EBay is unresponsive and apparently determined to abandon the people who built it. This latest change is inspiring me to take more determined steps to create my own ecommerce site, and perhaps take a shot with eCrater, plus a more determined push on Etsy.

Shows what I know - I thought PayPal was still owned by the same overarching company that owns eBay.

Question though - why would anyone think this was a good move? (despite the "salesman" job in the link) - I agree with Todd.

Also, if everything I have read is correct, even then PayPal will still be an option.

I wish there was an alternative auction site to EBAY. One that would/could set EBAY back on it's heals. EBAY's a monopoly.

I lost thousands because of PayPal and have never used them again and I have bought many models from Ebay using a U.S. Postal money order stating up front to the seller and have had all very positive transactions in the 80's and 90's without a single problem and will continue to use money orders as I'm the one out any money not the seller if things go bad but haven't bought anything from Ebay for several years. If the seller refuses to accept a money order fine I'll simply go elsewhere. Karl

This just proves how much that they have lost touch with what made them what they are today. They bought Paypal; to use for payments primarily on their site and then ran that into to the ground. Now they will buy or create a new form of payment. That they will charge more for and have more of your money.

I guess as a buyer.... I am not understanding how this would be negative for me? Is it more of an issue with sellers than buyers?
