Cool new tune, and killer video
The Pretty Reckless - Death By Rock And Roll

The acoustic version isn't too shabby either
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cJtRajP2eM
really lets Taylor's vocals take center stage

For all we have & like in common - we do tend to differ in a LOT of our tastes :)

Not a fan of either version - song, video or vocal. I've heard stuff where she sounds really good - just not on these.

As they say - each to their own.

Thanks for the links though.

I'm kinda neutral on the first version - mainly liking the video more than the recording. I actually liked the acoustic version better. I think I would like the song more hearing it live in concert. I do enjoy Taylor''s voice just about any time I hear it, plus she's not bad to look at too. :)

I too like the acoustic better.
It is also the first version I heard.
I really like the video for the studio version though. So atmospheric.

Another "40 years old today" post. OMG.

Not that they were amateur before this – but this REALLY shot them into the stratosphere.

Back when they were good.

Most would agree this is the best album AC/DC ever released.

I effin’ LOVED the 80’s :hot: :hot: :hot: :jam: :jam: :jam: :jam: :jam:

    • Side one
      • • Hells Bells (link below) – could have picked ANY track to link, but this was the one where the needle first hit the vinyl, and IMMEDIATELY told us they meant business!
        • Shoot to Thrill
        • What Do You Do for Money Honey
        • Givin the Dog a Bone
        • Let Me Put My Love into You
      Side two
      • • Back in Black
        • You Shook Me All Night Long
        • Have a Drink on Me
        • Shake a Leg
        • Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution

Great album.
It did really propel their career, and formed the blueprint for just about everything to follow.

But I don't know if I would call it the best album.
I think I am still more partial to Highway To Hell.
Not by much, but just a bit more (probably because it was their first album I ever owned)

I used to work for a cruise line in Manhattan on Sundays first thing in the morning i had the place to my self. I would turn on the pa system that had speakers all over the piers and blast You Shook Me All Night Long. We got noise complaints from across the river in hoboken. :jam: :jam: :jam: :jam: :jam:

(not even gonna give you a clue)

Apologies for the slow response - it's company year-end for me & mine so I've been a bit preoccupied calculating & form-filling for Revenue Canada and ye olde Inland Revenue.

Lzzy & the crew emailed their subscribers early last Friday with this - I appreciate the thought though :thumb2:

I'll see your "picture" and raise you a live video :) . . . emailed out today  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUuVReJSrc4

As everyone is saying - it's been a long wait to get this (the older live version has been around for years - I think I posted it way-back-when).

Both ladies have incredible voices (well, duh!)

Nice to see the American flag being displayed properly instead of in the midst of all the stupidity that's been going on.

As Lzzy herself said . . .

  • "What started as friendship born on tour . . .

Now, finally, the long awaited duet of the song "Break In" featuring Amy Lee is here!

We recorded this duet pre-COVID-19, together in the same room, live, as a full performance from beginning to end.

If you are a singer, you know how difficult that task can be. You must match your singing partner in both pitch, timing, emotion and build within the song. All while knowing that if you screw up, you AND your singing partner have to do the whole thing over again from the top, NO OVERDUBS, NO CUT INS.

But this felt natural, like we had been doing this performance for years. The two of us have never been the kind of women to NOT meet a challenge and I got to witness first hand why Amy is the legend that she is. My friend brought new meaning to this song, turning what was once just a pretty love song into a true statement of unity and support for one another.

Thank you Amy for your strength, friendship, and for being a part of this beautiful display of women's empowerment in these crazy times we live in."

Oh - and it's 1 of the tracks on their next EP . . .
  • "Halestorm will release a new EP, Reimagined, on August 14th. It will feature reworked songs from the band's catalogue as well as a cover of "I Will Always Love You", made famous by Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston.
The new version of "Break In", which features Evanescence vocalist / founder Amy Lee, was originally performed live on tour as part of Halestorm's set when both bands were on tour together in 2012."
Not sure how they could possibly improve on the original versions of their own songs - but we'll see!
      • Tracklist:
        • I Get Off
          I Miss The Misery
          I Am The Fire
          Break In (featuring Amy Lee)
          I Will Always Love You

Promised . . . and (eventually/delayed) delivery . . .

Holy **** - the ONLY cover version of this (yeah - I include the Halestorm version) that comes close to improving on the Coverdale/Sykes original.

Netta is a goddess in human form.

The link starts part way through the track - at the point that this REALLY starts to hit vocal/emotional overload  https://youtu.be/eQkgWa8HoEU?t=106

The lady has SO much range - unbelievable.

Turn it up to ELEVEN !!!!!!

Lzzy/Netta duet anyone? :D

Sadly, I only think 'I Am The Fire' and 'Mz Hyde' are improvements. 'Break In' is equal to the original.
Not sure why they called these reimagined. They are basically the acoustic versions they performed live.
Sure, there are some backing tracks and such here and there, but for the most part they are the acoustic versions.
They do a great job of showcasing Lzzy's vocals, but in a lot of cases, I need more than that to get excited. Halestorm is a package. With less of it present, it just doesn't resonate as well with me.
