Dreath

#1 Post by sivousplay »

Another fiery paint job from me. This one is called Dreath (~1/3 scale) from the amazing Akihito Ikeda. If you've never seen Akihito's work, you REALLY need to search for him on the internet!! :) This amazing sculpt had a light socket installed in the back of the kit and was cast just thin enough to allow the light to shine through. The concept art for this piece was darker and more death-inspired, but I thought it would look cool to paint it with fiery tones and let the light enhance that. I think the effect turned out very well. As always, this piece was hand-painted using acrylics and inks. I took some standard "beauty" shots, but also took some pictures of her hanging on my study wall w/ the lights in the room turned off so that you could see how the built-in light makes her glow!

If you would like to see more pics, please visit my web-site at: http://sivousplay.net/html/dreath.html

I hope you like her.

Cheers,
jim

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It was fun to use the light to help enhance the fire effect. Definitely something I'm going to remember.

Thank you all. I've picked up some LEDs to integrate into an upcoming project. Curious to see how they work.

WOW! An excellent idea to have a light behind it, and it shows off your incredible fire effects. A flawless paint-up from The Master.
