Geometric Lighthouse Encounter

#1 Post by Jon LeGrand »

Resin kit produced by Geometric and sculpted by Joe Laudati, I built it as a client commission. Here is a video:

Looks great! That gray scale is soooo hard to do right, but by golly you got it. :D

That turned out great.
Looks a lot better in the video than in the photos, not sure why.
But the video really does show the water effects, and how well they work with this.

Don't think I've ever seen one of these with an all black lighthouse.

Thanks Larry! Yes, it is a challenge, I have only done it a few times, mostly on 33 Kong kits.

Since I finished the video, the water effects became more clear, I think it looks better now than it did here. I tried the darker lighthouse to make it match the scene more since it was basically just a silhoutte, and also to help make the white in the lighthouse seem more like a source of light.

Very effective build Jon, it captures the scene so well with the B&W paint finish.
I've always thought this was a small model as I've never seen a pic of it with anything alongside to give an idea of scale,
so the pic of you holding the kit was quite a revelation, it's quite a beast!

Happy New Year! Cheers, Paul

I was the opposite. I thought it was bigger than it is.
Now that I know the true size, I may get one as it is a nice kit, that won't eat as much shelf space as I thought.
