Hanging out in The Munster's Living Room
This was a really fun one to do and I made a few alterations to it. I still need to sculpt a miniature Chinese Dragon for the mantle an put in more natural cobwebbing. I cut off the candlesticks that were molded to the mantle and I found that the replacement miniature candelabras I bought were too large in scale to look right. I may cut them down and tweak them to see if they work as they did come with really cool tiny candles that can be lit. I wouldn't light them on the model, but they would look really good on the mantle.
The patterns in the rug come from a William Morris design rug we have in our living room.
I also ditched the rabbit for the TV, which is not in the show and while an amusing joke, I made my on antenna set up that looks like what is seen in the Zombo episode as Eddie is watching TV. As for Zombo, yes he's there on the TV. and I changed the painting on the mantle to a John Akinson Grimshaw painting "A Yorkshire Home" to replace the one that comes with the kit. Also made a tiny frame for it. Shame Wolf-wolf is turned the way he is because he was fun to detail.
I was watching my box sets of the Munsters while working on it and just really had a great time. Loving just the joy of modeling. Thanks for looking!
Here's the Zombo image I used on the TV as it's impossible to get in there with my phone to take a pic!

Awesome job Stuart, your painting and attention to the fine details is amazing, it creates a very effective and lifelike diorama.
The rug works beautifully, is that a scan and print of the fabric, or an actual piece of the carpet?
I didn't watch a lot of the show growing up here in the UK, I think The Adams Family was screened more often, but remember
all these characters very well, especially Herman!
Cheers,
Paul

Wow! That looks great!
So much attention to detail, and I really like the shading you did.

Thanks so much Paul! The rug is all hand painted because I'm a crazy person. I wish Aurora or Polar Lights had done a similar one for The Addams Family, but maybe Moebius Models may pick up that torch.Tiger2 wrote:Awesome job Stuart, your painting and attention to the fine details is amazing, it creates a very effective and lifelike diorama.

You did a really stellar job on Eddie and Lily.
Those two are the hardest faces to paint on this kit.
BTW, luv your rug too.

Looks super!!!
I saved your photos as reference too!
Maybe Jeff Yagher should hit this one on his Aurora series?

Re: Hanging out in The Munster's Living Room
I just sent Tim Fortuna a message yesterday.
He said he's going to take a stab at a Munsters nameplate for this model.
Something you can pop onto the front of the base, even after the model is finished, as it has plenty of room.
This kit really needed a nameplate and The Munsters logo is awesome.

Re: Hanging out in The Munster's Living Room
I wish I was crazy so I could paint a rug like the one you did! Fantastic. Roughly what is the diameter of the rug if you don't mind me asking? This is by far the best build of this kit I've seen. Nothing like watching the show for inspiration while building the kit! You made this old kit look great Stuart.
