Thought about swapping the head out for one of the black heart dragon heads, but decided to just leave it totally original for once.
I have had this dragon hanging in my work area for several years.

Re: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-05-07
Decided to make some modifications.
-Beefing up arms and shoulders on top side
-Adding some tapering to the upper and lower arms.
-Adding muscular lats.
-Tied the back spikes into the tail ridges.
-Made the tail ridges larger at the top of the tail and made them a bit higher and sharper.
Next mods include:
- beef up arms and chest on underside
- change lower legs and claws to be more aggressive in an attack pose versus current relaxed pose
- will most likely change out the head with a black heart reign of fire dragon head

Re: Kitbash: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-0
Hah! yeah Ian, I should have known I could not just simply only paint a kit for once…
Funny thing is that the dragonslayer vermithrax is one of my all time favorite dragons, and of course bill weiger did an awesome job sculpting it just like the movie design …but I could not resist making some mods to it in order to make it one of a kind…
Hey, do you know how to move a post to a different section in the clubhouse ?
Since I am modifying this kit versus just painting, I think this post belongs in the Kustomizers section
Maybe one of the admins could move it for me ? Thanks !

I would have thought it should stay here since it's a W.I.P. ?barad_dur wrote: . . . Hey, do you know how to move a post to a different section in the clubhouse ?

Regardless - Trev is the only Admin with powers to do that (you customise kits, he customises the Clubhouse ), but he should spot this thread soon, so just confirm that you really DO want it shifted and he'll doubtless help you out (he's a good lad really - despite his strange tastes in music ).

More detailing of upper tail ridges, evened out transition from wings into tail (removed the “step” down)
Beefed up back lats a bit more
Cut off feet and converted them to wide open attack pose versus previous semi closed relaxed pose
Here are what the feet used to look like and you can also see the previous “step down” from wings to top of tail

That's what I thought too, but if you really want it moved, I can move it.Heavy Metal Spike wrote:

It's not even a problem, just click a couple of buttons.

Re: Kitbash: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-0
Thanks guys !
I would like this post moved to be grouped with my other projects in the kustomizers section.
My logic is if I was just painting this dragon; it would go best in this section.
But since I am now modifying/customizing it, it should go in the kustomizers section.
Thank you for your help!

Continuing to refine the upper tail ridges and base coated the modified claws.
Still need to detail the feet/claws.

Thanks for the assist with moving this post!
Working on the underside:
- reattached new attack-pose feet
- beefing up and widening chest
- beefing up and tapering arms (I need to dial these back a bit, they are a little too big)
- removed hand palms
I plan to change out the head and change neck position to go along better with attacking pose of claws

It took me a COUPLE of reads to figure out that you were NOT redoing that last one again ...
OK, now that I got my blood pressure down ... like the green color, hope you stick with it ... otherwise - can't wait for the paint up. Like this guy, he's more lithe than the perching fellow ...

Re: Kitbash: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-0
No worries B-A, previous dragon bashes are safe….for now..
Latest work:
- Cut off original vermithrax head (no doubt I will use this head in a future bash)
- working on positioning new head (black heart reign of fire dragon head)
- New head will be more foreword and the neck extended and much more arched than in original kit

Yeah ... I'm sure I wasn't the only one skeptical when you said that you were gonna keep the original head ...

Re: Kitbash: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-0
Although new head is smaller than the original, going to slim it down a bit more for better scale with body.
Trimmed down back lower jaw and removed neck portion under jaw.
Will add a little curve back to lower jaw and some small spikes too.
Plan to make legs a bit bigger and longer, so cut off lower legs and made feet bigger and longer.

Re: Kitbash: Dragon vermithrax dragonslayer, new pics 2022-0
Wing paint was getting beat up, so re-primed it, which helps me better judge proportions.
Started beefing up and extending thighs to go with reworked larger feet and claws.
Will stick with the same green and yellow paint scheme after modifications are done.
