Episode 6 (the kid ... you know the rest) was well-done & enjoyable ... this series has a real Star Trek original vibe to some of the story lines ... like this one ... they didn't always have happy endings ...
... so Spike, since you are warning over and over about Season 1 Ep 8, my wife wants to know if we should skip it? (Understand I have nothing against a weak story line, but I DO have something against any plot that starts channeling/mainstreaming any of the socio-political madness going on today ... thanks for your answer ...

)
Or is it just "too silly" of a plot? (I cheated and read the first line of an online review of ep 8. Don't know any details - just that the premise sounds, well a bit silly. I'm OK with silly....

)
Unlike all of the others in Season 1, I only watched E08 ONCE. So . . . I can't remember exactly what I found annoying.
I'd been warned beforehand (by people whose opinions I trust) to not watch it at-all, but (for completions sake) I watched it anyways.
I found it a bit "silly", but don't think it had anything in the "madness" vein you mentioned . . . it was just a bit "odd", and disappointing compared to all the other Season 1 episodes (there's an unusual one in Season 2 as well - but THAT is
GREAT - and SO funny in places).
I remember it dealing with the Doctor's Daughter (it resolved/closed that storyline arc) and a "fantasy Princess" setting. In ways, it reminded me of the TOS episode
"Plato's Stepchildren" - because I felt embarrassed for some of the out-of-character things the actors had to portray (the Kirk/Uhura kiss excepted

).
As always, it's best you judge for yourself - maybe try the first 10-15 mins and then decide if you want to continue?
Regardless, as I intimated above, I'm confident that S01E09 will 100% wash ANY bad taste from S01E08 out of your mouth
