Thanks a lot Joe. And thanks for the nice compliments in your earlier post. Please don’t sell off your collection on my account though. I enjoy seeing everyone’s builds, not just my own!Heavy Metal Spike wrote: ↑September 26th, 2023, 4:21 pm So much expertise, patience, and talent.

You’re welcome and thanks for the nice post about your Yamato build and of the importance of the real ship to the Japanese people.bucketfoot-al wrote: ↑September 26th, 2023, 4:37 pm Amazing ... the patience for such a detailed, long term project ... a labor of love ...... thanks for the detailed step by step updates ...

I’d really like to see some more pics of it “outside the box” so to speak. Is that cover plexi or glass? Must weigh a lot either way.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your “labor of love” with me. I enjoyed reading about it.

I was gonna try and come up with something to say about all those beautiful photos, but then I got distracted by the rest of the conversation

Nice lil' video Steve - shows the progress beautifully. It's not easy getting lighting to show up clearly on a video but you did so perfectly.

Re: Now … Voyage
Thank you. Yeah I'm glad I took the WIP photos of the bay with and without the shuttles since it's hard to see everything in there now that it's in the ship.
Anyway ...
Aztecing (?) with chalk completed for upper secondary hull. These will be oversprayed with the “J” paint mix:

Re: Now … Voyager…
That is just insane. A person could be forgiven for asking whether you Photoshopped a photo of the actual shuttles into the Bay of your unfinished model!
Keep the in progress photos coming!

Re: Now … Voyager…
Hello trekkers and fellow trek modellers. Sorry for the delay in posting. Been doing a lot of masking and painting...
Masking off nacelles for Tamiya chalk:

USS Voyager WIP Img - 362 by Steve J, on Flickr
Base Tamiya chalk layer done for secondary hull and nacelles. I will overspray with colors “A” and “J”:

Nice shot of underlying dorsal “aztec” patterns.

Working on chalk staining the Aero Wing's underside:

Secondary hull upper grey “J” panels after airbrushing:

Airbrushed slightly darker grey secondary hull panels unmasked:

Gratuitous beauty shot:

Main sensor pallet painted flat black as a base to start:

USS Voyager WIP Img - 371 by Steve J, on Flickr
Main sensor pallet brushed with dark grey, then medium grey, then dry brushed with steel.
There are other colors to be brushed on later - aluminum, copper, red, and blue - using a fine tipped brush:

USS Voyager WIP Img - 372 by Steve J, on Flickr
Strong back sensor pallet brushed with dark grey, then dry brushed with medium grey enamel.
Once this dries I’ll brush on the other color:

Re: Now … Voyager…
You ain’t seen nuthin yet dude. Wait ll I finish all the little dots and squares of color in the rest of the sensor pads.
I also want to lay some thin black decal strips to frame the docked Aero Wing.
Also, there will be a ton of tiny decals all over this thing.
Getting to the short strokes now,
