Thanks !
Yes, just using next belt to fill in missing back part.
Right eye looks larger because it is sculpted bigger, I just painted it exactly as sculpted, which is the problem.

As for the symmetry, remember the head is a lizard, the eyes aren't symmetrical on lizards. They move their eyes independently, and they are on different sides of the head.

I've got a TRICK for you to solve that conundrum  Just paint part of the "eyelid" on with BLACK, thus reducing the size of the misshapen red right eyeball ... (I'll come for my commission in the morning  )

PS Try painting the red eyeball without a pupil - might look even creepier! :alcoholic:

Thanks for the suggestions , but I decided to try and address the root cause which is that the head sculpt is not symmetrical and uniform.

Now working to even out the whole head sculpt .
Also refining the hair as there were flat spots and thin spots that needed to be filled in for better uniformity and symmetry.
So far so good, but definitely have some refining and fine detailing left to do.

And I am very happy that I have not smudged up and ruined the rest of the paint job as I frequently do when making modifications this late in the build!

Inevitable, wasn't it?

But I know what you mean - if YOU are not gonna be happy with it, that is all that matters. (Remember my adding an additional 8" of pipe to my finished Kong build last year? It was a royal PITA, but the same idea. It has to please me).

Looking good so far - now perhaps both eyes will be visible and the head a little more prominent!

.

I somehow managed to miss out on a months worth of updates on this #-o

This has come on leaps-and-bounds - great work Joe - that base & wall detailing is an eye-opener (in a good way) . . . I particularly love this shot (I've always liked Scorpions - just ask Trev :) )

Thanks Ian! I freehand added that scorpion. It was not part of the glyphs sculpted into the base. Glad you like it!

Received the extra belt to fill in the back belt part.
Image

It was too long
Image

So cut it down
Image

Added Ankh to middle of belt, trimmed sides to fit, and put it in place

Continuing to resculpt and even out head details.

Brilliant move with the belt/Ankh combo!!!   That rear belt really added something substantive to that previously barren/plain area - I tell you what Joe - whether it was your original intention to or not, you have now made this one of the rare builds you see where every angle shows you something you didn't see before - and there is NO "bad angle"!!!! :xmas:

Face is looking more prominent, as are the eyes - nice call on the resculpt - can't wait to see the head repainted!!! :drool2:

Thanks B-A for all the helpful inputs and kind words.

I am not happy yet with the head sculpt.
It is very difficult making the teeth the right size and shape as they are so small. I may have to go with no teeth showing?
I will be able to assess this better after I throw some paint on it. Hopefully tomorrow.

Threw on some quick rough paint to help asses the head.
Not digging the head at all…those teeth are no good.
One step forward, two back…no worries, I Will rework it tomorrow

Resculpted head definitely looks more reptilian or crocodilian. I agree that the teeth look a little too big and too separated. Removing them all together is probably the best option at this point. The only thing that I would think to try is to find some kind of small plastic dinosaur skull with teeth, then cut the teeth out and glue them to the side of this figure's jaws. Finding the right size is probably too much trouble at this point.

Resculpting the head was not working so decided to use one of black hearts dragon heads for the head.
This has the advantage of being a bit more crocodile looking which fits better with Egyptian theme.

Had to make the eyes a bit bigger on the dragon head to make it scale right with the body and be a tad more human like.

Next step is to fit new dragon head-face in under hair line and into headpiece.

Quickly just tacked in the new dragon head.
I had to remove many of the dragon horns and spikes to make it fit, but I plan to add some of these back on.
I will tweak the eye ridges to give him a meaner look
I think this new approach is going to workout …

You are a freakin' bashin' GENIUS!!! (With an INSANELY HUGE collection of parts to choose from!!!) :bgrin:

Edit: If you keep pulling more stuff like this on this build I will be all out of superlatives!  Making the eyes bigger (more human like) was more inspired BRILLIANCE on your part, and you've executed it flawlessly if I may say so. This build literally combines so many of the different aspects of your bashes into ONE build that will be WELL-RECEIVED at WF (or I'll eat one of my BIG Texas hats!). Would pay admission to ogle this piece in person some day!!

Thank you for the very positive feedback B-A!

I can’t say enough good things about the blackheart dragon heads.
The detail on them is fantastic for such small sculpts.
I bought quite a number of them as I knew they would come in handy.

Your mastery in bashing is inspiring me to do some cross bashing myself! Meaning working on more than one bash at a time. While I am hot and heavy on the trail of another Empire State Kong, I'm also bashing a Triceratops to go up against that horizon JP T-Rex! But you'll have to scroll over to my Dino bash's thread in about 10 minutes to get the whole scoop with progress pictures. 😁

Working on blending in and detailing the new head
Reworking front of hair line
Modified ridge above eyes for a meaner look
Adding more hair locks and fixing where original locks got cut removing old head

Need to decide if I should put horns back on or have no horns for a more crocodilian look (everyone’s inputs on this decision are welcome!)
A few pics below show horns very roughly and just temporarily tacked on

This is a tough tough call. I leaned one way and then the other. You really can't go wrong either way, but I think your hunch is right that the horns just don't look Egyptian.

Additionally, in profile the head seems to fit the figure better without the horns. They interrupt the general flow of the figure, and detract from the crocodilian look that I think you are trying to achieve. 🤠

I vote 'no horns'.
It just looks better and more natural.
