So this is the next little project on my list:

Has anyone else seen these or had a go at one? Yes, I know, it looks like a kid's toy & even says ages 5+ on the box, but wait..
My son found one of these (last on the shelf) in a store in the UK (Home Bargains), but I think they're available on Ebay & Amazon. He got it for just GBP 4.99 ($6 or EUR 5.75) & painted it for his son, & I thought it looked great. By chance he stumbled over another one a few weeks later, & grabbed it for me. The paints & brush included are, how can I say this politely.. terrible. But the figure itself is actually really cool! He stands about 6.5in (16cm) tall, & is hollow cast from some sort of resin. The base has a nice grainy texture, while the figure itself is really smooth & quite reasonably detailed. There's a very slight seam which is already partially sanded from the factory, but it does need a bit more work & some refinement before painting.
There appears to be a few figures in this series, including Spider-Man, The Lizard, a different (but somehow not so cool) Venom, Green Goblin, Electro, there's a couple of Avengers as well & even Guardians Of The Galaxy! Sadly some look pretty dodgy & lacking any kind of detail.
Anyway, here's a couple of photos of Venom before I've done anything, this is straight out of the box...

The teeth will need sharpening & the end of the tongue needs to be a bit more pointed, but otherwise I think this isn't bad for the price!

The spider emblem is really sharp, & the muscle definition is pretty good too!

I like the pose!
I'll shoot some grey primer as soon as I can & I think that will help to show the detail, I definitely want to add veins (you can't have Venom without veins) & there's got to be some drool hanging off that tongue! I might have a go at making some kind of broken container as well (like the glass ones in the Venom movie) with the symbiote oozing out to envelope the figure.
More soon, thanks for looking!
