Ok, I finally have pictures.

Image

Image

These two show the status of my workbenches this morning. With the new, additional kits. Smaug, Bilbo, Sleestak, Godzilla bust, Heavy Metal ship, and White Walker. Everything primed, and ready to start painting. I even took time this morning to add pins and pegs to hold stuff for painting.

And here is how things looked when I wrapped up work tonight.
Image

Got a lot done, but not nearly as much as I had hoped. Of course, I did tear down and clean my airbrush after about 6 different color changes today. It needed it. It's been a few months since I took it completely apart to clean it. Lots of gunk on the needle. Small parts are still soaking in alcohol until morning to make sure they are clean.

Then there is this one, not seen in that shot

Image

And I see the sanding marks are kind of noticeable now that it has the silver basecoat. Still not sure if I will try to smooth those out, or just let it go before I add color to the piece.

Your workbench is kinda resembling mine at the moment .... except that yours is not nearly as messy ...

More pics!

The creature is coming along. A bit more detailing and I might be ready to call it done.

Image

Image

My mini-Ed is coming along as well. Painting on this takes forever. I didn't realize how much time until I happened to look up at the clock. I only painted a little bit as far as area covered goes.

I am really liking where this is going as well.

Been a hectic week so not much on the kit front.
But I did get down there today and got some work done. Here are a few pics.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Making progress on these minis. Reaper-Ed is getting close to done. Just have to get the face right and fix the feathers on the mask on the base. POM Ed has a lot more work to go, but liking where it's heading.

Tomorrow is masking day. I need to mask Smaug and do some airbrushing.
Also need to mask that Heavy Metal ship and do some airbrushing.

I did get some other pics done as well. I haven't had any luck recovering the old hard drive, so I started reshooting the base photos I lost. I got Dracula and Vampirella done today.

Image

Image

While I had it out, I also stuck a figure on the Vampi base.
This is the rare Scary Terry version of Vampi that I bought from Steve Ross already built and painted years ago.
Image

Image

Originally I intended to repaint it, but who am I kidding. I've got plenty of other things to work on, and Steve's paint looks great. So I might as well finally display the thing.

They are very small. Especially when I switch from a 1/4 scale bust to picking out details on one of the minis.

Should have more pics up tonight. Had a great airbrushing session today and later I plan on going down and pulling the masking off and getting a bit more done.

As promised, here are some pics.

Image

Image

Image

Moving along. So far this has been going smoothly. Main colors blocked in. Next will be the bone color for the skulls.

Image

Image

This is also coming along very nicely. I'm liking my color choices and execution up to this point.
Next will be fitting the teeth into the mouth and getting that blended.

Then we have this doomed project.

Image
The masking on this fought me pretty hard. The blade in my knife was getting dull and making things impossible.
Finally got some new blades and got it sorted.
Then it took me a bit to get just the right color mixed up for the hull color.

Then tonight as I was removing the masking, that took a long time as well. I used lots of little pieces and they pretty much came off one piece at a time, instead of sticking together and coming off in big sections.

Except for this one.
Image

The last one I unmasked, and this happened. :(
It wasn't quite this bad, but this is what it looked like after I got done sanding the edges of where the paint/primer peeled off.
Now I have to try and match the color I have on the other two sections. I know what I used, it's just finding the correct ratios of hot pink, and peach.
For now I just brush primed it, then started doing layers of hot pink to get most of the color set. Which with a semitransparent ink, it's gonna take a few coats. Doesn't cover as well with a brush, as it does with an airbrush.

Here is where I left it for the night.

Image

I was hoping to finish that reaper-Ed mini tonight, but had to do repairs instead.
Not sure how long it will take me tomorrow to finish fixing it. Luckily, I had extra hull color left and put it in a sealed container, just in case I needed to do touch ups.

The plan is always to bring every kit I finish to WF :D

There are a few exceptions, mainly, fun stuff I build like when I was a kid.
Like my glow kits. I love to let the glow shine and just kind of have fun with it.
Image

Or my Bandai dinosaurs that I build and paint in a weekend. Usually with some spray paint and stencils for 95% of the paint.

More progress today.

Image

This one is basically done now! \:D/
Now I just need to put it on the base and shoot a bunch of pics.

Image

Image

This is almost done! I need to make a few more touch-ups to the face and the cloak and this will be wrapped up.

Image

Image

Managed to repair the damage on this.
After trying to brush paint it, I quickly realized that wasn't gonna work. So I had to do some very detailed airbrushing because I wasn't going to deal with the tedium of masking. Yeah, I have some clean-up work to do from the overspray but I don't think that will be as bad as masking would have. Besides, then I would have run the risk of pulling even more paint off, and making even more work for myself. Just think it will be easier all the way around this way.

Even though I had the day off yesterday, I didn't get any bench time.
I did a bunch of model-adjacent work yesterday. Mainly pictures and website updates.
My 'On The Bench' page is now up to date. Will pages for all the other kits I have started
https://www.tylisaari.com/models/onthebench.htm

I got the page done for the Gaveyard Scenes Creature.
Image
(thread coming soon to the Styrene forum.)

Got pages done for most of the bases. Think I still have four more to go.
https://www.tylisaari.com/models/galler ... /mygs.html

Also realized I hadn't updated my pages to show all my built-ups https://www.tylisaari.com/models/kitindex.htm
And all the kits I still need to finish https://www.tylisaari.com/models/mykits.htm

Next I have to add a whole section to my Iron Maiden area just for the miniatures.
That will be a tonight project, as I am getting ready to get motivated and get down to the workbench.

Thank you. I try to have several navigation options. I learned long ago, not everyone thinks the way I do, so what I find intuitive, others find impossible to follow. :)

Quick update. I've been working on a bunch of little stuff and not bothering to take pics. That changed today.
This is gonna be kind of pic heavy.

First of all, I had to do a bit of cleaning up, as I was running out of working space on the bench with everything going on.

Image

Been doing lots of little details on this guy. He's getting close. Maybe done by next weekend if I don't mess anything else up and have to fix it.
Image

Image

Got Smaug's teeth done, then installed.
Image

Image

I hope to putty the inside of the mouth tomorrow before the eclipse, then hopefully paint after the eclipse.

This guy ended up finding his way back into the rotation. I was doing some airbrushing yesterday and decided to shoot the red and get that done. Which lead to me working on the horns today.
Image

Image

Part of the airbrushing was getting some white on this little guy so I could get the orange on. I mean, I am already working on minis, might as well do this while I am at it. Think I might sort out all the suit details before I work on the head.
Image

This also found it's way back into the rotation. Still a long way to go.
Image

Still getting this base done up before I start concentrating on the actual bust.
Image

And I've been slowly getting a bit done here and there on this guy.
