I just finished "Moonflower Murders," the sequel to "Magpie Murders" by Anthony Horowitz.
The books are little hard to describe in a nutshell. Each is a novel within a novel.
"Magpie.." features a book editor who is reading the latest mystery from one of her writers (you actually read that novel within the book) and who then tries to resolve a 'real life' mystery that follows.
"Moonflower.." picks up a year or so after "Magpie" and follows a similar format in that our heroine starts off telling a story but then has to refer to an older book written by the previously-mentioned writer and you then read that mystery in its entirety before returning to the main story.
I know it sounds convoluted but Horwitz does a great job of weaving the two novels into one with some tremendous twists as the payoff.
Each book has been turned into a limited series for PBS/BBC
