Very cool!

My son was in Orlando earlier this year and brought me back a Dark Universe T-Shirt in anticipation of me possibly visiting next year.

And there are A LOT of videos on YouTube from Universal..

Technically impressive. As an old guy I wonder why their "animated figures" don't more closely resemble the classic monsters. Might it be viewed as inappropriate/disrespectful?

One of a few attractions, yes.

"Dark Universe" is set up as a new theme area, part of the 'Epic Universe' at Universal. It's supposed to be one of a handful of areas (think Animal Kingdom vs, EPCOT vs Magic Kingdom..)
The Frankenstein ride is one Dark Universe attraction, a Wolf Man roller coaster is another. There are a LOT of Universal videos on YouTube explaining the various 'worlds' and lay-out.

Like everything else in pop culture it remains true-ish to the original while being updated for a 2020's audience..

The Dracula looks like a vampire joker.
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?
Lord, what fools these mortals be! -Puck
