Isobel The Matriarch

#1 Post by Ant »

Been working on this insanely detailed 3D print for IPMS Scale ModelWorld, and against all the odds, managed to get her finished with a week and a half still to go! Normally I end up packing stuff up while the paint is still drying

I purchased the files from CA Sculpts for a very reasonable 30 Euros. She comes as both unsupported and pre-supported/hollowed sub-assemblies in 1/6th scale and is big! The main body completely filled the height of my Elegoo Saturn right to the very last layer!

Everything printed fine, however the supports were perhaps a little over-zealous and removing them from some of the larger parts was a serious effort, even after soaking in hot water to soften them. The density was very high and whilst this help preserve the shapes of the under surfaces well, it also resulted in quite a lot of waste in the end.

Painting was fun - mostly airbrushed acrylics and then some judicial use of oils to blend and shade the significant borders between colours, and some other detailed shading on the flesh.

Thanks for looking!

Sometimes finding adjectives to describe outstanding work is just futile and anything I could say would just fall short.
I am assuming Vampire for the gallery classification ? Never sure if it's a Graphic Novel, Video Game, or Movie I am not aware of.

*Blush* That's very kind!
Yes, the lady is a Vamp... as far as I know she's an original creation of the sculptor and not 'from' anything specific.

What a magnificent piece of work! :o
I loved the WIP pics, but even that did not prepare me for the finished shots.

Bravo Ant. =D>

Stunning work.

Great expression in the eyes, the skin colors are lovely and the dress and bats are wonderful.

Incredibly well done. The amount of detail and shading right down to to marble base knocks it out of the park!

Must have been some really amazing entries if you didn't place with that.

This was the bronze winner :|

The gold, whilst a great piece, was actually in the wrong category. Such is life.

That is an insane lot of detail to paint.

He has some really impressive diorama statues on his page.
