Ian - been meaning to ask. Are you going to see Evanescence and Halestorm on Oct 15th?

I was really thinking about trying to do the London show, but alas tickets are mobile only.

I got the newsletter, but a combination of Evanescence headlining and (especially) given it's in the local cattle shed that is Rogers arsehole arena put me off.

I REALLY miss the UK concert venues & the bands they continue to attract.

While I love Amy Lee and enjoy Evanescence, I'm not dying to see them live.
I really want to see Halestorm again. And I am dying to see The Warning.

But 5 hour one-way and a boarder crossing. $150 a ticket. On a weeknight.
Even if it wasn't mobile only, I don't think I would do it.
If Halestorm were headlining it would really make it a tough decision though.

For the first time in almost 2 years, I'll be going to a concert!
Gonna see The Warning in Cleveland on Sept 18th. Already got my presale tickets locked in.
First show since I saw Maiden in Columbus in 2022.

If by "Mobile only" you mean that you have to have your ticket on your idiot phone - its pretty much the way all tickets are now done. All concerts, pro sports, etc. I had to learn how to do it 3 years ago when I got tix for me and my son to go see Elton John. Was paranoid about losing my phone and not being able to get in (bought tix 1 1/2 years before the concert) ... my son laughed at me when I told him my concerns. :green_rollin:

Yeah, getting passed by technology sucks - especially at the rate its been changing the past 30 years ... but at least in this case its really not too complicated - once you take a little time to learn how to do it.

That isn't really an option for me, I don't own a cell phone. All I have is my landline.
I have zero desire to have one either.
Thankfully, I still have smaller venues near me that do paper tickets, and will mail them to me.

:like

I once vowed to be the last person without an "idiot phone" ... but ... around 2019 it just became ... necessary ... ... I wish it wasn't the case ... but your life is UNDOUBTEDLY a lot saner as a result of not owning one ... =D>

Less than a week until the show and I am getting excited.

Just bought tickets tonight to go see Trans Siberian Orchestra in November. The wife is excited about that one.

The show last night was fantastic!
The place was packed, the sound was good (other than opening act)
Opening act wasn't bad, but they weren't good either. Had some nice grooves on some songs and lots of energy, but the sound was meh as they were too loud and breaking up badly in some parts.
The Warning killed it! They sounded fantastic! Their performance and crowd interaction was awesome. I already pretty much knew the setlist, but it was great to finally experience the songs live, in person. Seeing Dany's goofy dances, Pau beat the drums like they owe her money, and Ale just grooving on that thundering bass was amazing!
My only complaint was the set was too short.
Doors opened at 7, opening act hit the stage around 8, I was back in my car in the parking lot at 10:20.
Their setlist has been roughly 1 hour 15 minutes for this tour. Sure, it's 17 songs, but they are all short songs.

The wife and I went to see Trans Siberian Orchestra on Sunday.
Other than the parking and waiting fiasco it was a great show. I think I am getting jaded. Everyone I know who went to one of the two shows that day say it was 'fantastic' or 'amazing'. And here I am thinking it was very good / great, but I wouldn't say it was any more than that. I actually think it was the most tame I have seen them. I know they are getting older, but they just seemed kind of tired. Everything sounded fantastic, but the performance itself didn't hit like it used to. I also feel that they went with a lot more of the slower songs as opposed to the rockers they normally play. They also shortened some of my personal favorite songs.

Very perceptive review, Trev - I always wondered how some of these orchestras keep fresh when they have been literally touring for decades.

The Missus and I are going to see Scott Bradlee's 10th anniversary tour of Postmodern Jukebox next week ... will do a quick review afterwards ...

P.S. I'm really missing Spike (he was always all over these threads) ... if you are still in touch with him by email, please let him know we are thinking of him and hoping he'll be back sometime after he negotiates whatever life issue he is facing at the moment ... :refexion:

Yeah, he said things are starting to get back to normal and hopefully he will be back sometime soon-ish.

This thread actually makes me miss Steve Cooke, he was always going to shows and posting about them.
He hasn't been around since June, and I'm not sure why.
I'm gonna have to dig through my contacts and see if I have an email for him (we used to correspond about Prehistoric Scenes way back when)

Me and the Missus went to the Tobin Performing Arts Center in San Antonio (rebuilt in 2014 and man is it a nice concert/theater/opera venue!!!) last night to see Scott Bradlee's Post Modern Jukebox 10th year Anniversary Tour. Well, the artists did not disappoint!!! Incredible vocalists (Rogelio, Towanda, Tatum Langley), the best tap dancing gal in the business (Demi Remick), mid-century swing and R&B orchestrations of modern pop songs of the last few decades - absolutely an amazing toe-tapping time!!! Thank you Scott Bradlee for reinventing the music of The Golden Age of Pop for modern audiences!! (If you think you might be interested, I invite you to peruse a few sample videos on their website or youtube, and check the concert calendar for a show near you!!! :D )

The website: https://postmodernjukebox.com/postmodern-jukebox/

The song videos link: https://postmodernjukebox.com/news/

Now - a few photos!!!

That sounds like a blast.
PMJB is hit or miss for me. Some of their stuff is amazing, others leave me flat.
I think I was more open to it when I first discovered them, but life has gotten so busy since then, I don't really put the effort in to follow what they do any more.

Yeah, that's inevitable given the wide "genre-crossing" involved in the concept. :D

However, the live show is DEFINITELY worth seeing if you have a chance!
